ፕሮታጎራስ (Protagoras) vs ዮትለስ (Euathlus)

ቅድመ ሶቅራጥስ ግሪክ ነው አሉ። የሶፊስቶች ቁንጮ በመባል የሚታወቀው ፕሮታጎራስ (Protagoras)፣ ዮትለስን (Euathlus) ጎበዝ ጠበቃ እንዲሆን የንግግር ጥበብ (rhetoric) እንዲያሰለጥነው ውል ያስራሉ። ውላቸው ደግሞ ዮትለስ የስልጠናው ግማሹን ክፍያ በቅድሚያ ይከፍልና ስልጠናው ከተጠናቀቀ በኋላ ደግሞ ዮትለስ የመጀመርያውን የችሎት ክርክር ካሸነፈ እንዲከፍል ነው። ሆኖም ዮትለስ በስልጠና ያገኘውን ክህሎት በተግባር የሚፈትሽበት ጊዜ እያጓተተው በመሄዱ፤ ስለ ዝናው እና ስለ ቀሪው ክፍያ ያሳሰበው ፕሮታጎራስ ዮትለስን ሊከሰው ወሰነ። በችሎት ፊትም እንዲህ ሲል ተከራከረ:-

ዮትለስ ቀሪውን ክፍያ ሊከፍለኝ እንደማይገባው ነው የሚከራከረው። ይሄ ግን የማይሆን ወለፈንድ ነው። አስቡት እስኪ ዮትለስ ይሄን የችሎት ክርክር አሸነፈኝ እንበል፤ ይህ ደግሞ ከስልጠናው በኋላ ያሸነፈው የመጀመርያው የችሎት ክርክሩ ስለሆነ በውላችን መሰረት ቀሪውን ክፍያ ሊከፍለኝ ይገባል ማለት ነው። በሌላ በኩል እኔ ካሸነፍኩት ደግሞ በችሎቱ ውሳኔ ይከፍለኛል ማለት ነው። ስለዚህ ዮትለስ ያለው አማራጭ ወይ ያሸንፋል ወይ ይሸነፋል ስለሆነ ሊከፍለኝ ይገባል።

ዮትለስ ሆዬ የንግግር ጥበቡን ከፕሮታጎራስ በደንብ ተምሮ ኑሯል እንዲህ ሲል ተከራከረ:-

ፕሮታጎራስ ልከፍለው እንደሚገባ ይከራከራል፤ ግን ይሄኛው ነው ወለፈንዱ መከራከርያ። አስቡት እስኪ ፕሮታጎራስ ይሄን የችሎት ክርክር አሸነፈኝ እንበል፤ ከስልጠናው በኋላ ያደረግኩት የመጀመርያው ክርክሬ ተሸነፍኩ ማለትም አይደል? ስለዚህ ልከፍለው አይገባም ማለት ነው። በሌላ በኩል እኔ ካሸነፍኩት ደግሞ በችሎቱ ውሳኔ አልከፍለውም ማለት ነው። ስለዚህ ፕሮታጎራስ ያለው አማራጭ ወይ ያሸንፋል ወይ ይሸነፋል ስለሆነ ልከፍለው አይገባኝም።
