New York City has agreed to release new documents showing that officials lied about the air quality in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center.

According to the New York Times, the documents reveal that higher-than-acceptable levels of asbestos and other contaminants were in the dust and air in other parts of Lower Manhattan after Sept. 11.

Despite having information about the poor air quality, government officials, including then-EPA administrator Christine Todd Whitman, said the air around ground zero was safe to breathe.

The Times warned that the disclosures could reopen NYC to new litigation at a time when New Yorkers who were in the city at the time are dying of lung and blood cancers, as well as heart and respiratory diseases.

Update on David

This is Erin, David’s wife. A million thanks to everyone who has reached out with prayers and encouragement for David and our family. God is with David and we can feel the prayers of His saints and His miraculous protection.

Yesterday, David was having mild chest pains that he didn’t think were serious for about an hour, which suddenly became very severe. I was away from home, but his mom was visiting us and rushed him to the hospital, which is only a block from our house. He was taken directly into surgery where he died on the table, but the doctors shocked him back and placed one stent in an artery which was completely blocked. The doctors said it is a miracle that he’s still here with us. A few minutes longer and there would have been no hope.

He has had excellent care. He will be in the ICU for at least another day as they keep an eye on him. He had a restless night, but the pain and high blood pressure are being brought under control and he was able to sleep and eat a little bit this morning.

David has wrestled with heart issues since he was a young adult. The doctors will do follow up testing to see if he needs any further surgeries to prevent another emergency like we had yesterday. Please continue to pray for wisdom for the doctors, and for healing for David’s heart.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released video from the scene of Sunday’s runway excursion involving 21 Air Flight 7598 at Miami International Airport.

The footage shows two vehicles that were struck by the Boeing 767 after it overran the end of Runway 30, as well as the aircraft resting on its nose some distance beyond the runway. The accident killed five people and injured five others.

The investigation will continue today, with interviews of involved parties scheduled.
