Matthew 6:34 (YLT)
Be not therefore anxious for the morrow, for the morrow shall be anxious for its own things; sufficient for the day is the evil of it.

Russian officer who prevented nuclear disaster in 1983 | Nuclear Weapons News | Al Jazeera

False alarm of a US nuclear first attack was detected by a Soviet military analyst who helped evade a nuclear war.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/9/28/russian-officer-who-prevented-nuclear-disaster-in-1983

It was September 28, 1983, when Lieutenant Colonel Petrov – a lanky, 44-year-old military analyst with the Soviet Air Defence Forces – started his night shift. He was chief duty officer at a military command centre 100km west of Moscow.

It was 15 minutes after midnight when the sirens at the Champignon on that September night went on.

“One, two, five rockets. When there is more than two, the computer called it a nuclear missile attack,” Petrov recalled.

He had to confirm the attack on the phone and push the red panic button that would trigger alarms throughout Soviet missile installations.

Tens of thousands of military officers and soldiers would have to get ready and target their missiles and wait for a command from Andropov.

But the satellite signal did not detect “tails”, or visible traces of flying missiles. The scope of the attack also seemed illogical – the US would not start a nuclear annihilation of the USSR with just five missiles, Petrov thought.

Meanwhile, Soviet ground-based radars didn’t detect any signals – and he decided the system had malfunctioned.

“I understood the signal was wrong and yelled, ‘False alarm! False alarm!'” he said. “I made a decision not to believe the computer.”

This is just one instance of an extremely close call that became public knowledge.

How many others remain hidden from us?

Who does not see God's Hand guiding events, both great and small?

Psalm 143

7 Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me, Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.

8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee.

9 Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

10 Teach me to do thy will; For thou art my God: Thy Spirit is good; Lead me in the land of uprightness.

Few people know of him... Yet hundreds of millions of people are alive because of him. The actions of Stanislav Petrov, a retired Soviet military officer, prevented the start of a worldwide nuclear war and the devastation of much of the Earth.

This Man Single Handedly Stopped All Out Nuclear War - The Man Who Saved The World - War Documentary

Oct 30, 2019

On 26 September 1983, the computers in the Serpukhov-15 bunker outside Moscow, which housed the command center of the Soviet early warning satellite system, twice reported that U.S. intercontinental ballistic missiles were heading toward the Soviet Union.

Stanislav Petrov, who was duty officer that night, suspected that the system was malfunctioning and managed to convince his superiors of the same thing. He argued that if the U.S. was going to attack pre-emptively it would do so with more than just five missiles and that it was best to wait for ground radar confirmation before launching a counter-attack.

'Lucky it was me'

Now, 30 years on, Mr Petrov thinks the odds were 50-50. He admits he was never absolutely sure that the alert was a false one.

He says he was the only officer in his team who had received a civilian education. "My colleagues were all professional soldiers, they were taught to give and obey orders," he told us.

So, he believes, if somebody else had been on shift, the alarm would have been raised.

A few days later Mr Petrov received an official reprimand for what happened that night. Not for what he did, but for mistakes in the logbook.

He kept silent for 10 years. "I thought it was shameful for the Soviet army that our system failed in this way," he says.

But, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the story did get into the press. Mr Petrov received several international awards.

But he does not think of himself as a hero.

"That was my job", he says. "But they were lucky it was me on shift that night."

The Power of Terrible Ideas - American Thinker

While many have criticized the current enthusiasm for judging the past by the standards of the present (and condemning those past leaders who did not meet them), few have noted how many currently dominant beliefs are totally disconnected from reality and have a profoundly destructive impact.  I propose to discuss two of them here: ideas about the nature of mental illness which have produced what Charles Krauthammer called “an army of broken souls foraging and freezing in the streets” and the conviction that our planet is in existential danger from human-induced climate change.

The latter has led to a wholly unwarranted, hugely expensive crusade to eliminate fossil fuels.  The chief effect has been to strengthen the leverage of those countries, many of them enemies of the West, that continue to produce these fuels, which remain essential to the functioning of industrial societies.

At the end of the day all we have left is our belief in the truth, God and the goodness of our fellow human beings who are awake.

That's all we need to be honest to navigate this crazy time.

We will get there. We prepped you guys for 2 years for energy and food shortages. We told you how to grow your own, make your own necessities, what things to prep with, how to take control of your health and more importantly how to look after those you care about who form your tribe.

So you've got this. We've got this. Yes it's going to be bumpy but if we put into practice all we have learned we are going to be OK and come out of this the other side to something better.

Chaos leads to destruction and sometimes that's necessary in order to start again.

So hold on tight but also hold on to that inner knowing that where we are heading is infinitely better than where we have been
One can't help thinking the whole fiasco was intentional!

Farms are being shut down after PFAS (“the forever chemical”) contamination from Biosludge.

I don’t know how anyone ever thought it was a good idea, but indeed, now that many “organic” farms have tossed urban wastewater full of chemicals on their farmland for a few years, suddenly the government notices it is poisonous, starts declaring these farms toxic, and shutting them down.

Maine alone has shut down over 700 farms contaminated -- and it is NOT limited to this state.

It also affects neighboring farms for miles. This is just the latest avenue to shut down farms.

Farmers face ruin in America’s ‘forever chemicals’ crisis

Maine’s disaster from PFAS-contaminated produce is causing farms to close and farmers to face the loss of their livelihoods

Sludge is a by-product of the wastewater treatment process that’s a mix of human excrement and any number of more than 90,000 human-made chemicals or substances discharged from industry’s pipes. “It’s a toxic soup,” said Laura Orlando, a Boston University civil engineer who studies sludge contamination.

Additionally, PFAS can spread. Ironwood Farm, about six miles from Songbird, tested its water and found high levels suspected to have migrated from a neighbors’ sludge-packed field.
