[EN] Russian forces have broken through Ukrainian defenses north of Hulyaipole after capturing Uspenivka, a key Ukrainian stronghold on the western bank of the Yanchul River. The breakthrough came after Russia concentrated around 40,000 troops on the fortress and fired more than 400 shells daily to destroy all fortifications. After taking Uspenivka, Russian forces advanced along a 15-kilometer front and penetrated up to 8 kilometers deep. Ukrainian command ordered a withdrawal to the Zarychne River, prioritizing the protection of personnel over holding problematic positions. The river line offers favorable terrain for continued defense.

Russian neo-Nazi and ideologue Dugin wrote on Telegram that Russia will occupy the whole of Ukraine within two years and Ukrainian sovereignty will therefore disappear entirely, because “Ukrainians don’t know what to do with it.” In the text, Dugin also states that Russia has developed a detailed plan for integrating Ukrainian society into the “Russian World,” which includes new textbooks, books, “mass re-education” programs, and new names for Ukrainian regions and cities. According to Dugin, it is still being debated whether the Ukrainian language — which he calls a “neo-Nazi dialect” — should be preserved or erased completely.

Ukrainian media report that Washington has handed Kyiv a separate proposal for new security guarantees. It contains three points: if Russia launches another offensive, the U.S. president will have the authority to deploy U.S. armed forces and intelligence assets; NATO — together with France, the U.K., Germany, Poland, and Finland — will be obligated to act in coordination with the United States; and the guarantees would remain in effect for 10 years.

After three days of continuous airstrikes, Russia destroyed the last functioning power-plant unit in the Chernihiv region. The Chernihivoblenergo facility was hit directly and its equipment completely destroyed. There were concrete walls on the site, but the roof was not finished, and completing the full protective structure would take months and cost tens of millions more.

Additional sources confirm: Ukrainian paratroopers of the 425th “Skala” Regiment fought their way back into the center of Pokrovsk and expelled Russian forces from the area around the railway station, the pedagogical school, and Sobornyi Park. These actions have so far blocked Russian attempts to regroup and reinforce from the north. Any Russian movement across the railway line now results in heavy losses.

Ukrainian media, citing sources, report that talks between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva have run into two main obstacles — the withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from Donbas and Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

An unnamed U.S. official described the situation in the White House: “You tell Trump, ‘I’ll try to make a deal.’ He replies, ‘Great, let’s see what can be done.’ And that’s about all he knows about it.”

Russian military channels claim that soldiers from North Korea will be deployed to fight on the Zaporizhzhia front in Ukraine after two months of training in Russia.

At least 4 people were killed in overnight Russian shelling of Kharkiv. Another 17, including two children, were injured.

[EN]: During the night, the Russians used 22 missiles and cruise missiles as well as 460 drones against Ukraine.

In Kyiv, the CHP-5 and CHP-6 heating plants were hit, as well as a hypermarket and residential buildings. At least six people were killed and dozens injured. Several districts are without electricity and hot water. We are living in a time when one fascist great power terrorizes tens of millions of civilians every day, and another great power—which until recently pretended to be the world’s guardian of democracy—is seriously considering rewarding the first for its terror. And speaking of that…

iDnes writes that “Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and the likely next Czech prime minister Andrej Babiš pragmatists who care about the citizens of their countries.” When a fascist great power praises someone, it should be a warning light for everyone.

The Russians began spreading a disinformation claim online that their forces had captured Kostyantynivka near Donetsk. Ukrainian General Bakulin, who commands the local operation, therefore recorded a video directly from the city center to dispel the rumors.

According to Bloomberg, Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff secretly advised a top Kremlin official, Yuri Ushakov, on how Putin should present a peace plan for Ukraine directly to Trump.

In Russia, a former Ukrainian weightlifting champion was put on trial after proudly admitting to a series of successful partisan operations on Russian territory. The court sentenced her to 19 years in prison.

Lavrov declared that Europe wants to sabotage peace talks by rewriting the proposed agreement, but supposedly no one listens to Europe anyway because it has wished for Russia’s defeat.

During a night strike, Ukrainians hit an oil terminal in Russia’s Novorossiysk as well as one of the airborne assault ships docked in the port.

Ukrainian drones struck the Beriev scientific and technical aviation complex in Taganrog. The attack also destroyed a “flying laboratory”: the Beriev A-100LL.

Trump claims that the proposed peace plan was adjusted based on input from both sides and that its final version will be presented soon.

Denník N: Vývoj bojů (1371. den): Z cesty do Myrnohradu je hřbitov vozidel. Ukrajina ztrácí výrazně více techniky než Rusko

[EN] The road to Myrnohrad is a graveyard of vehicles. Ukraine is losing significantly more equipment than Russia

The expectation that Ukrainian forces might still liberate Pokrovsk is naive.

The Russians have shown what the access road to Myrnohrad looks like now.

Why is it still not possible to speak of its complete encirclement?

Ukraine is losing significantly more heavy equipment than Russia.

Chart of the day: the number of successful Ukrainian strikes on targets inside Russia has increased.

Videos of the day: Russian air defense in action; drone attacks in the forest; a resident of Pokrovsk practicing outside his home even during the war.

[EN] The entire world is currently grappling with the scandal surrounding U.S. negotiations with Russia over ending the war in Ukraine.

A recording of a phone call has leaked to the media, clearly showing that Steve Witkoff, the U.S. attaché for Russian affairs, was coaching his Russian counterparts on how they should present their proposals to Trump so that he would accept them. It has also been confirmed that Witkoff warned the Russians that Trump was planning to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, enabling them to influence Trump before he had a chance to meet with Zelensky — which completely changed both the substance and tone of the subsequent U.S.–Ukraine negotiations.

The revelations have triggered a strong backlash not only among Democrats, but also within parts of the Republican Party itself, where Witkoff is now being labeled a traitor and calls for his dismissal and punishment are mounting. The MAGA core, on the other hand, claims this is standard diplomacy and is demanding harsh penalties for those responsible for the leak.

At the same time, a separate recording of a conversation between Dmitriyev and Ushakov has also surfaced, confirming earlier suspicions that the “peace plan” presented by Trump was, in fact, drafted by the Russians.

And meanwhile, this is also happening:

[EN] Ukrainians carried out what some analysts describe as one of the largest overnight strikes on targets inside Russia. Explosions were reported at three Russian military airfields: Saratov, Engels, and Rostov. Russia’s energy infrastructure was also hit, including the Saratov oil refinery. Blasts were further heard in places such as Smolensk and Saky in Crimea. Ukrainian drones again struck the Beriev aviation plant in Taganrog. The full extent of the damage from the night-time raid is not yet known. Russian official sources, of course, are concealing the successful strikes, so we will have to wait for videos from Russian civilians—who always eagerly share them—and for satellite imagery. Meanwhile, here are more developments:

Frustration is growing within Russian ranks over mounting losses and minimal front-line progress. As a result, incidents of war crimes committed by Russian soldiers are increasing. In recent days, several videos have appeared showing Russians shooting bound Ukrainian prisoners. The latest, from yesterday, shows Russians killing five unarmed, prone soldiers after capturing and interrogating them following a chaotic Ukrainian retreat near the Hulyaipole sector. Another video, recorded on a Russian soldier’s helmet camera, shows his comrade beating a bound Ukrainian prisoner in the head with a rifle butt before shooting him. The crime occurred near Hnativka, close to Pokrovsk.

An accident at Baikonur has effectively deprived Russia of the ability to send humans into space for the first time in 60 years. During the launch of the Soyuz MS-28, a service tower collapsed onto Launchpad 31. It is the only site capable of sending crewed missions to the International Space Station. The astronauts were unharmed, but the launchpad suffered severe damage, and some estimates say repairs could take up to two years.

Trump’s peace plan, supposedly approved by Ukraine, has been delivered to the Kremlin. The updated version is being kept secret even from European officials. One diplomat says its contents are being deliberately concealed because the previous 28-point U.S. plan leaked to the press.

Belgium is blocking the EU plan to use frozen Russian assets as a “reparations loan” for Ukraine. According to Politico, Prime Minister Bart De Wever sent a letter to Ursula von der Leyen arguing that confiscating Russian assets would hinder efforts to reach peace.

The EU’s foreign policy chief reminded that over the past 100 years Russia has attacked more than 19 countries—some of them three or four times—while none of these countries has ever attacked Russia.

Russian collaborator and current Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has arrived in the Kremlin for talks with dictator Putin about energy supplies and the peace plan for Ukraine.

One of the four Ukrainians detained in Poland on suspicion of railway sabotage was found carrying an astonishing 46 Russian passports and other Russian identification documents.

Russia’s “Safari” claimed more lives: in Kherson, Russians hit a civilian car with an FPV drone, killing 34-year-old Alina and her 6-year-old son Vladyslav.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for the EU to be included at the negotiating table and for frozen Russian assets to be handed over to Kyiv.

Zelensky did not sign Trump’s original peace proposal. Trump’s deadline for the signature expired at midnight.

Moldovan authorities have begun stripping citizenship from ethnic Russians with Moldovan passports who joined the Russian army.

A 21-year-old Ukrainian man died in Vienna. His body was found in a burned-out car. Police do not yet know who killed him.

Actors Ivan Trojan and Jiří Dvořák delivered ambulances and medical supplies to Ukraine, funded by the Memory of Nations charity collection.

Italy has extradited to Germany a Ukrainian national suspected of involvement in the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
