The Celtic Gods of the Iberian Peninsula : Part 8 - Trebaruna

https://telegra.ph/The-Celtic-Gods-of-the-Iberian-Peninsula--Part-8---Trebaruna-10-02

"One must live honourably if one wants to be favoured by the weaving of destiny and luck, which is Trebaruna's responsibility, while taking care of his household and family. If the comparison with the Hamingja is valid, then an individual's actions could affect the luck conferred on his lineage, all the more so if one considers that he will eventually be reborn through his descendants..."

The Sword In The Ground: The Warrior's Divine Axis

https://telegra.ph/The-Sword-In-The-Ground-The-Warriors-Divine-Axis-10-02

In this short article I shall discuss what we know of sword worship, and one possible interpretation of it among Indo-European people. We know that among Aryans sword or club worship was prominent and was a symbol of connection and initiation to the divine. From Indra’s Vajra, to Thor's Mjolnir and the axe of Perun.

Bronze ritual axe from Lovech, 8th century BCE, Sofia Archeological Museum.

Highly stylised heads of a bull, ram and a goat. The axe was with an iron handle and wasn't made for practical use. The axe-scepter was most likely used by the king who was also the high priest ( just like in most Indo-European societies). This axe sceptre has the animals depicted in some kind of a hierarchy and marks them by importance. Other such axes were found across the Balkans mostly in Thraician and Minonian sites and were used as a divine right of the king to rule and as a sceptre. Though almost exclusively these were double head axes and were acquired as heritage. The Thracian king Lykourgous\ Lykurg was almost always depicted with an double headed axe. First such axe-sceptre was found in Bulgaria at the end of the Bronze age. The Thracian god Zalmoxis was depicted witch such and axe in one mound from the 4th century BCE.

The Dissident: A Day in the Life of Pentti Linkola

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkmeYe3Uh5s

A beautifully produced documentary on Linkola's simple life, and seems to be one of the last films of him before his death.

It's only 25 minutes long and I thoroughly enjoyed it, this piece of art deserves more attention.

The Celtic Gods of the Iberian Peninsula : Part 9 - Ataegina

https://telegra.ph/The-Celtic-Gods-of-the-Iberian-Peninsula--Part-9---Ataegina-10-07

"Ataegina seems to simultaneously possess aspects of the proto-Indo-European Goddess of Dawn, but also deities of the underworld such as Persephone and Proserpine, and others still related to Feronia.
"When she symbolically comes back to life, she's associated with the coming of spring (renewal of life), warmth, dawn, flowers, health, perhaps law and order or justice, and the fertility of the soil..."

We want to present you the project Odal, which is led by Russian pagans. It will be interesting not only for those who know Russian language, because there is a lot of aesthetic content and you can freely contact the admin of this project.

The rune «Odal» in the older futhark is called *Ōþalan, which in the Proto-Germanic language means «heritage», «ancestral property». Our ODAL project is dedicated to the traditional heritage of Indo-European peoples, mainly northern ones; the heritage that modern Europeans are involved in.

The day before yesterday, on the 7th of October 1571, the Battle of Lepanto took place, in which the Holy League, led by the Spanish Empire and reinforced by Italian squadrons, clashed with the Ottoman Empire. This confrontation of titanic proportions led to a European victory, which sounded the death knell for the Ottoman expansion.
Some historians consider it to be the most important naval battle by its consequences since that of Actium.
One of the participants in the battle would become the Spanish writer Miguel Cervantes, world famous for his work Don Quixote.

The Celtic Gods of the Iberian Peninsula : Part 10

https://telegra.ph/The-Celtic-Gods-of-the-Iberian-Peninsula--Part-10-10-10

With a number of the main Gods of the Celtiberian pantheon in hand, we will now present the deities for which we have a relatively small number of archaeological elements. The intense history, as well as the crucial strategic importance and proliferation of resources within it, have made Hispania subject to a number of conflicts and reconstructions: Romanization, Christianization and Moorish invasions for example. In addition, the inevitable passage of time and the gradual loss of ancient traditions have also contributed to the loss of much of this culture.

Thanks to the relatively recent discoveries of pre-Christian Iberia, which add more and more to the rich and vast culture of the ancient Iberian peoples, we are finally able to penetrate together new pieces of the mythological puzzle, always with the help of what has remained in our memory, blood and customs.

Here it is important to keep in mind that this does not necessarily imply a minor role for these deities.

Sketch for A Mermaid, 1892. John William Waterhouse (English, 1849-1917).
Project Anouncement..

We have started another channel solely dedicated to the study of the Rigveda.

The Rigveda is the oldest religious text in any Indo-European language. It's invaluable for reconstructing Proto-Indo-European mythology, and it gives us brilliant information about the nature of the Indo-Aryans who invaded India c. 1500 BCE.

It is also a linguistic masterpiece, with verses of striking beauty and sublime structure.

Stay tuned!

As we are quickly approaching Vetrnætr, many people will spend more time in contemplation of the future and remembrance of the past as well. Ancestor veneration being an important aspect of any holiday of course will be practiced. But on this coming of Vetrnætr, I want to remind people to not only think of those who came before, but also of their hardships that forged them into the great men and women of yore, which made them worth the veneration.
Many of our ancestors, regardless of nationality, have fought in wars for home and country, have forged the trails of our once barren and unexplored countries, and tamed them.
So when the celebration comes and you stop to remember your ancestors, think also of what makes them worth remembering, and strive to impress them in all that you do.

I read a lot of miserable and despondent sentiments here on social media. And sure, the state of the world can be stressful and crushing at times. But, I want you to remember something.

For those of us in ancestral faith, this the most powerful we've been in a thousand years. And soon we'll be at our apex. Strongest we've ever been in history.

We're currently in a spiritual renaissance. We are now in the driver seat for religious innovation and vitality. Discoveries being found, concepts developing, truths being revealed, communities forming and babies being born faster than anyone can count.

Forget about modernity. They're rotting and dying. Us on the other hand are rapidly approaching our golden age. Focus on your folk. Focus on your task and your role. If you don't have one, find one.

If war comes to your doorstep show them what a mistake it is to conjure the Æsir's children. But don't allow the cancer to poison you. We're approaching victory. Stay focused.
The Celtic Gods of the Iberian Peninsula : Part 12 - Conclusion

https://telegra.ph/The-Celtic-Gods-of-the-Iberian-Peninsula--Part-12-10-12

"this could attest to a vision of the oceanic sky, which has precedents in Near Eastern and Indo-European religions, with the "waters of the firmament" held in place. Going further into the stream of Endovelicus, perhaps water was closely associated with light in the Lusitanian train of thought, reminiscent of fire as the progeny of water in Zoroastrianism. If Nabia, Munis and Trebaruna are all associated with water and celestial bodies, then water definitely becomes emblematic of the universal order found in most Indo-European traditions. Perhaps its cycle and its many states have been intimately understood, as the notion that clouds come from bodies of water is noted in many cultures, from the Greeks to the Kamilaroi."

Dionysus, Hades and Soma: The Greek Lunar Cycle

https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2020/10/dionysus-hades-and-soma-greek-lunar.html?m=1

Part 1 of 3: Dionysus and Soma

The Lunar Cycle continues into Greece. Can the god of wine be proven to be the same lord of the sacred liquid once again, under a new guise?

Parts 2 and 3 will be posted later this week.

Part 2 of 3: Dionysus and Soma

The crucial “eye poking scene” appears once again, and Dionysus’ relation to the Fire God, the Sun Princess, the Gandharva, the Wasteland, and the “Aesir-Vanir War” motif are each explored.

What we are left with is a strong and fleshed-out picture of Dionysus as the Greek “Soma” god.

Part 3 of 3: Dionysus and Hades

Hades, the lord of the dead. Several other “Soma” gods are underworld gods; does Hades then have a place in the Lunar Cycle?

Is he, as others have suggested, one with Dionysus?

Fittingly for the approaching holiday, let’s examine the comparative evidence and see if this lord of the dead has an Indo-European root.
