Forwarded from Wäinölä 🇫🇮 (Wäinämöinen • Eternal Sage)
"There was a lass, an air-girl
a nice nature-daughter: she
long remained holy
for ever girlish
in the air's long yards
in the empty wastes.
So now she steps further down
launched herself upon the waves
on the clear high seas
upon the open expanse.

Part of 3 of our series investigating the figure of Týr.
What is the relationship of Týr and Baldr?

“...this near identity of Vidura-Aryaman and Yudhisthira-Mitra is the central key to the whole question of the relationship of Týr and Baldr, from a Dumezilian perspective”

The conclusion of our series investigating the figure of Týr.

“...one of the first questions that should arise is: if Baldr is the god who dies, revives, and is the last survivor and leader, why then is he not the Mitraic "Lawful Sovereign"?”

Undley Bracteate

5th century Anglo-Saxon bracteate unearthed in Suffolk, England.

This bracteate is fascinating for a number of reasons. It is very clearly a Germanic artifact, yet it also depicts a soldier with Roman helmet, as well as Romulus and Remus being fed by the She-Wolf. This shows a degree of influence of both Roman myth and style on the Germanic people.

Secondly, it is one of the earliest examples of Old English, and likely the earliest use of Anglo-Frisian futhorc runes. The inscription reads: gægogæ mægæ medu. “Mægæ medu” likely means “mead for kinsmen”, while gægogæ (composed of 3 Gebo-based bindrunes) is likely a sort of metered runic magic. This triple repetition of Gebo bindrunes is also found in the Kragehul spear shaft inscription from Denmark.

Just wanted to recommend a particularly excellent stream to check out when you have time, from the guys over at Thulean Transmission, with special guest Mimir’s Brunnr.

It touches on a lot of things, the pagan/heathen mindset, history, culture, and how these things need to be adopted in the modern age to help us overcome a lot of our problems we are currently challenged with. It’s a long video but something worth making the time for.

The Great Lunar Cycle: The Horse Twins and the Grail: Part 1 of 12

https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2020/07/the-great-lunar-cycle-horse-twins-and.html?m=1

The framework of the Grail myth needs no other source than the existing Indo-European mythology. The Aesir-Vanir War is the same myth as the Grail myth, and traces of the same myth exist across Europe and into India. Perceval is Freyr. Njörðr is revealed to be a moon god. The Grail myth has significantly more direct Germanic influence than previously suspected. Follow along with our new series and see for yourself.

“...following the trail of connections across Europe, it will be shown that the Holy Grail legend and the Aesir-Vanir War are, in fact, one and the same myth.”

Værløse Fibula

Artifact found in a grave in Denmark, dated to roughly 200-600 AD.

The runic inscription, in Elder Futhark, transliterates to “Alugod” or “Alu God” (ᚨᛚᚢᚷᛟᛞ), and ends with a great example of a Germanic Migration Era swastika.

The meaning of Alugod is debated. Generally “god” is taken to mean “good” (from Proto-Germanic *gōdaz), although it is also very possible it means “god” (from Proto-Germanic *gudą). “Alu”, on the other hand, is thought to simply mean “ale”. However, given that ᚨᛚᚢ is by far the most common word found in Elder Futhark inscriptions, and it is often found on seemingly religious artifacts and associated with depictions of deities, suggests this word had a much deeper esoteric religious meaning.

The Great Lunar Cycle: The Horse Twins and the Grail: Part 2 of 12

https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2020/07/the-great-lunar-cycle-horse-twins-and_6.html?m=1

Part 2: An Irish-Vedic parallel: Midir and Chyavana as the moon god Soma, friend and rival of the Horse Twins.

“The Chyavana story in Vedic myth goes back at least to the hymns of the Rig Veda, and is told as well in the Mahabharata and the Brahmanas, and can only be described as an extremely central myth of the deities known as the Horse Twins.”
