The Heroes of the Iliad as Indo-European Gods: A Mythological Rosetta Stone

Part 9 of 9: Sarpedon and Conclusion

Is this the TRUE MEANING OF THE ILIAD, or merely an extremely elaborate mirage? You be the judge.

- O’Gravy, The Sun Riders

“This is a very rough proposed outline (not attempted from this angle before, to my knowledge) of what current Iliad scholars refer to as a Faktenkanon, or standard list of events, that theoretically existed in the tradition of the epic poets, and that formed the underlying framework of the epic as it spread...”

To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late. How can man die better, than facing fearful odds, for the the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his gods.
The Kalash, as well as the related Nuristanis, retain much of the older Rigvedic mythology that is absent or otherwise relegated in modern Hinduism. For instance, they place great emphasis on a primordial creator-God, Imra (Rigvedic Sanskrit: "Yamarāja", related to Norse "Ymir"), and their deity Indr (Rigvedic Sanskrit: "Indra", इन्द्र) is still preeminent, despite his relegation to a minor, profane demon in the religion's adulterated Hindu form.

I know how I hung on the wind cold tree nine eternal nights, wounded by the spear consecrated to Wotan I consecrated myself to myself --

Many spend their lives with their spirit bound to the will of the material desire of the body.
The overcomer binds the flesh to the will of the spirit.

We all have two I's. The I of the body & the I of the spirit. The one who sacrifices the I of the spirit for the I of the body never truly has either.
The one who sacrifices the one eye of the body for the eye of the spirit only suffers a temporary loss and fully possess both.
Apologies for the off-topic post:

I strongly recommend all of you who are in places vulnerable to it, take some basic preparations for COVID-19. Stock up a bit on food if you need to self-quarantine, and get some basic gear if you'll need to brave urban areas when the outbreak hits. I have purchased basic p3 filter respirators for some friends & family, and I've given them some basic advice on the matter.

I know some of you may still have doubts, but I recommend taking some basic steps before it's too late. Masks and equipment will get out of stock/ be price gouged if things get too nutty. Be ready if you are living in a city/town that might end up like Milan. Milan went from healthy to a knock-off Wuhan very quickly.

Stay safe, avoid densely populated public transport if in an urban area, mask up (and not some shitty useless surgical mask), stock up a bit, and keep good hygiene (do not touch your face with hands that have not just been cleaned).

The search for the true mythic meaning of the Iliad has lead us to incredible and unexpected clarifications of Celtic mythology as well.

was the Ancient Greek God of metalworking and craftsmanship, not dissimilar to the Latin Volcānus or the Norse Völundr (Proto-Germanic *Wēlandaz) — AKA Waeland the Smith.

We owe our biggest support to our Friends @solarcult We draw a lot of inspiration from those who know the Eternal Flame.
Geographical circumstances are only one factor in the historical process. In vain do the Gods lavish their gifts upon the person who knows not how to use them; and just as man is the only species to have raised himself above the level of the beasts, so of all human communities only one has been able to construct a culture in the full sense: the Aryans. It is quite likely that if by chance some other Indo-Germanic [Indo-European] people had been brought to Greece, it too would have achieved essentially what the Greeks achieved. But it is entirely certain that however advantageous the land and environment, they would have led to nothing had a people of some other race come into permanent possession of Greece.

Karl Julius Beloch, Griechische geschichte (1893)
No matter how busy your schedule is, you always have to find time to visit a remote place where you can hardly see humans, be it a forest, a lake, a field, etc...
@solarcult
To unwind from the stresses of a city I am forced to live in and work for now, I spend at least one day on the weekends to visit the local woods. In them I marked a place that looks like no other, a really small opening in the middle of the woods that has a single pine standing strong in the center of the opening. I first visit this location which serves as my sacred grove and I pour libation to the Gods, after which I spend some time still, which gets me in tuned with the nature surrounding me. I can then fully feel my presence as the part of something bigger, of the life surrounding me. After that I am ready to take a hike that goes for several kilometers. During my hike, I enjoy the fresh smell of pines and beautiful landscapes which my region holds. The most important thing about these hikes is that they remove all the unnecessary thoughts from my head and help me concentrate on the things which matter.

If you are one of those people that can't find time for nature and you are loaded with stress, I hope that you found some inspiration in my words and I heavily encourage you to go out and feel the beautiful and secret sides of our natural habitat!

Hail Sun! Hail the Gods! Hail our ancestors!

The architecture around us directly impacts our mindset. Beautiful architecture makes people inspired and happier, whilst miserable architecture will make a population depressed and docile.
