BYD’s new Great Han sedan hits the market

BYD released the Great Han in China on October 13, a flagship electric sedan that pushes the boundaries of range and price. The base rear-wheel-drive model starts at approximately $35,000 and delivers a CLTC driving range of 1,008 km on a single charge. 🚀

The Great Han is BYD’s first fully electric flagship in the Dynasty series. It measures 5,256 mm in length, making it larger than both the Tesla Model S and the Lucid Air. The interior space matches a Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Performance comes from a 102.326 kWh Blade 2.0 battery pack. Thanks to new flash-charging technology, the car goes from 10% to 97% charge in just 9 minutes. Premium features include air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and roof-mounted LiDAR.

The Great Han joins the Great Tang SUV as the flagship sedan under the BYD Dynasty lineup.

Science Corporation implants a vision-restoring chip in a patient

A patient with an incurable genetic eye condition read a word on a screen after receiving a microchip behind the retina 👁️. In May, Science Corporation implanted the PRIMA device into its first patient with Stargardt disease at Sydney Eye Hospital. The procedure was led by Max Hodak.

The disease destroys light-sensitive cells in the outer layer of the eye, leaving inner retinal signals intact. Around 150,000 people worldwide have lost vision due to this condition. The chip works alongside special glasses equipped with a camera that beams visual data directly to the microchip.

The next generation of the implant, featuring a wider field of view and smaller electrodes, will reach people within 1 year.
