Where Windows 11 Stores Its Default Wallpapers?

Windows 11 includes a nice selection of default wallpapers, but it’s easy to lose track of them if you decide to use custom wallpaper. If you’d like to use the default images again, here’s how to find and use them.

1. Windows 11’s default desktop wallpapers are stored in C:\Windows\Web. This folder usually contains subfolders named after different wallpaper themes (such as “Flowers” or “Windows”) or resolutions (“4K”).

2. Another source of wallpapers are custom themes. You may install hundreds of them from the Microsoft Store, and they are not placed in the Web folder when you install them. Instead, custom themes along with their wallpapers are stored here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
Notepad++ Now Works Better on Windows 11

Windows 11 introduced a new right-click context menu for files, which moved actions like copy and delete to small buttons and hid the old options behind an additional “Show more options” menu. This meant that menu items added by applications like Notepad++ now require an extra click, unless the apps supported the new format for Windows 11.

Notepad++ 8.5 is now available, and the most noticeable change is that the installer now adds a File Explorer menu item entry for Windows 11. After the update is installed, you’ll see an “Edit with Notepad++” option when right-clicking a file, without needing to go into the secondary layer. Notepad++ is also still in the old-style context menu, so if you’ve completely turned off the new menu, you won’t lose the option.

You can download Notepad++ from the official site.

How to Run Windows on a Mac

Can you run Windows on an M1 and M2 Mac? Since Apple switched to using proprietary ARM-based chips with the arrival of the M1 in 2020, it’s no longer possible to run “standard” x86 Windows on modern Apple computers. All Mac models introduced or refreshed since 2020 have used an Apple Silicon processor like an M1 or M2 that is not compatible with the same version of Windows that would be installed on a standard PC.

Fortunately, Mac users with an M1 chip or newer can use an ARM-based version of Windows 11 called Windows on ARM. It’s not possible to install this natively, but that’s not necessarily a big deal anymore. Windows on ARM can run many (but not all) 64-bit and 32-bit applications that run on standard versions of Windows, with a small performance penalty.

At present, if you have an Apple Silicon Mac, you’re limited to installing Windows 11 in a virtual machine (VM).

Option 1: Run a Windows VM in Parallels. Parallels Desktop is probably the easiest way of getting Windows on ARM up and running on your Mac. Check out our Parallels Desktop review for more details.

Option 2: Run a Virtual Windows Machine With VMware. You can also run Windows on your Apple Silicon or Intel Mac with VMware Fusion 13. VMware’s solution is still lagging behind Parallels with many features still limited to Intel machines (like DirectX 11 support). On the plus side, you can download VMware Fusion Player for free for personal use.
Microsoft is bringing back classic Taskbar features on Windows 11
WindowsCentral

The Taskbar in Windows 11 is a simplified variant of windows 10's Taskbar. But Microsoft didn't removed anything from Taskbar, in Windows 11 they just started over. Rebuilding something as complex as the Taskbar can take time, which is why you're just now starting to see some of that classic Taskbar functionality return.

Last year, Microsoft added back the ability to launch Task Manager from the Taskbar right-click menu and recently added the ability to display seconds in the system tray too.

References to more classic Taskbar features have been spotted in recent Windows 11 preview builds. The ability to ungroup app icons and show Taskbar labels appears to be in the works. These join the recent additions of Task Manager shortcuts and displaying seconds in the System Tray.

Microsoft Word finally allowed paste as plain text with Ctrl + Shift + V

Microsoft is finally updating its Word app with a new shortcut to allow users to paste the clipboard content as plain text. Although the ability to paste text only has been available on the Microsoft Word app for a long time, the option was only available from the ribbon or context menu when most other applications also have a keyboard shortcut.

Once the Word app receives the update, you can select and copy the text using the mouse or the “Ctrl + C” keyboard shortcut from another document or another application, and then, you can use the “Ctrl + Shift + V” keyboard shortcut to paste as plain text in Word (“Cmd + Shift + V” for macOS users).

iPhone 15 Pro leaks show worlds-thinnest 1.55mm bezels

According to the leak, the iPhone 15 will copy the bezel size of the iPhone 14 Pro at 2.1mm, while the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max will have the thinnest bezels ever: 1.55mm!

That compares to the current record holder for the thinnest display bezels, which is the Xiaomi 13 at 1.61mm bezels on three sides and 1.81mm on the bottom edge.

If a bezel width of 1.55mm is implemented, given that the iPhone 14 Pro's bezel is 2.17mm wide, this would mean that Apple would shrink it by almost 30% making iPhone 15 Pro Max to look even more premium.
