Cursor Hackathon Jimma is coming, and it's open to everyone in South West Ethiopia!
We're bringing a 24-hour hackathon to Jimma where you get to build real products with Cursor. Got an idea? Bring it. Don't have one yet? That's fine too. You'll get the chance to experiment with AI, work on real problems, and see what you can build in just 24 hours.
You don't need to come with a team. We'll randomly group participants into teams, so you'll get to build with people you might never have met otherwise.
Whether you're a student, developer, or just curious about building with AI, come be part of it. Let's bring together the builders in South West Ethiopia and see what we can create!
π Nov 21, 8:00 AM to Nov 22, 11:00 AM
π Jimma University, Jimma
Jimma, it's your turn. Let's build! π₯

Bruh, the tech market just went through absolute chaos. Over $1 trillion evaporated from tech stocks in a single day. π€―
If you've been wondering why AI tools are suddenly getting more restrictive, putting up stricter daily limits, or pushing expensive new tiers... yesterday's stock crash explains it all.
Here is the plain English version of why the market broke:
For the last few years, we've been living in an "AI cheat code" era. Running these massive AI models costs an insane amount of electricity and chip power.
Every time you asked a premium model to do a heavy task, the tech company was actually losing money on you.
Why did they do it? Because venture capitalists and tech giants threw billions at them to scale as fast as possible.
But yesterday, Wall Street looked at the bills and revolted. Big Tech is spending nearly $800 billion on AI infrastructure this year, but the profits aren't showing up fast enough. Intel alone cratered 30% its worst day since the 1970s and Nvidia fell over 4%.
What this means for us:
AI isn't going away, but it's about to get a lot more segmented.
The Free Stuff: We will get basic, stripped-down models (good for simple emails, bad for deep research).
The Good Stuff: Power users and businesses are going to start seeing much higher subscription bills ($100+/month) or "pay-as-you-go" credits.
The free ride is officially winding down. Welcome to the profitability era of AI. πΈ
