So back to why i am posting ;) Well, sometimes you get bored with your phone, since you bought it long time ago. That’s why big tech companies like Apple introduce new models every year. So, should you buy a new iPhone every year just to feel motivated?

Buy the most inconvenient phone case you can find. Use it for a week. Then drop it. Before you drop it, change your phone’s theme.
You’ll get almost the same feeling as having a brand-new iPhone 🤫🤫..

Well, well, well...
Let's start new happy 2026 with an interesting story. Finally, my trip to Almaty comes to an end. But this time, my trip wasn’t about discovering the city, its food, or its architecture... Instead, I spent my days talking to people - trying to understand what may soon be happening in Uzbekistan.
No matter how much our older generations (kazakhs, tajiks, uzbeks) may dislike each other, we still have so much in common: our culture, history, food, way of speaking, hospitality, and, most importantly, our political condition.
So, another thing in common is how our parents try to control us — from early childhood and which often continues for a lifetime. I am not telling it is bad, because when we were young, we make choices relying on emotions not on our experience... But you know how our and Kazakh parents control us - with pressure and agression, which leaves deep, long-lasting scars. This system worked for many years, but the new world plays by new rules, and everything is changing. You can feel it when you come to Almaty and start talking to people.
When I first arrived, one thing immediately took my attention. So many young girls were already working in the service sector — in restaurants, malls, aeroport, and even out on the streets. I’ve seen girls working in services in Tashkent too, but never on this scale like in Kazakhstan. Well, but why?
It's mainly related to the economy of Kazakhstan, but I don't want to talk about this in this post, since it is also a long story. So, when girls and boys turn their 18th, banks give them opportunity to live their own life. How?
You can move to another city, find a job, and start living the life you want — separate from your parents. But how can you do that if your family refuses to invest in your independence (especially, when you are agirl)? That’s where banks come in, offering easy loans that make it possible to begin an independent life.
Of course, you may feel lonely during holidays or quiet evenings (without family around). But at the same time, many young people feel that distance is healthier than staying close to those who once caused them pain, or who always wants to tell you what is right and what is wrong, or who doesn't let you make those mistakes you really want to make. It's not my words, though... I wanted to record some conversation, but it would seem weird.
Well, parents always wanted to save their children from western culture. So, they limited their children and navigated their children with violence and force, instead of explaining the reasons with patience. And in the end, what they tried so hard to keep their children away from is exactly what ended up keeping their children away from them.
This story might feel easier to accept when it concerned only boys. But today, there is no longer a gender difference in Almaty.
