How to make Strategic Management a scoring paper?
(If you have appeared for Nov 23 exams)
I know it must be difficult if you could not clear in the last attempt.
But you are CA students, come up even stronger the next time.
Here are a few things you must consider while preparing for May 2024:
1. The subject has changed a lot - 40% amendments.
Study the subject thoroughly.
I know you have studied it multiple times but you need to again go through all the newly added concepts.
I highly encourage you to study the subjects like you’re doing it for the first time. Build your concepts.
2. Practice writing:
“SM is an easy theory paper” is a myth that most students have. If you are also stuck with this thought process you will always find it difficult to clear it.
No matter whether it is a numerical paper or a theory paper, you need to have prior writing practice.
If you’re writing the answer the first time in the exam hall itself you are likely to face challenges.
If not much, at least make sure you practice all the module questions.
3. Three-step revision
We spend days revising numerical subjects. But how much time do we give to papers like Audit, Law, and SM? Isn’t it an injustice?
I ask my students to follow this Three-Step Revision.
First - Just after you complete the chapter.
Second - One month before the exams
Third - On the exam time.
You don’t need more than that. And yes three revisions are possible provided you strategize your studies.
If you were looking for a shortcut, sorry, I don’t have an easy way out.
CA is not meant to be easy. You will have to put in those hours.
However, it is important to have conceptual clarity as well which can make your journey relatively easy.
