📚 Banaras Hindu University (BHU) invites applications for its PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25. Here’s all you need to know:
🗓 Key Dates:
Online Application Submission: 6th January 2025 to 21st January 2025
Counselling (Document Verification & Interview): 27th January 2025 to 12th February 2025
Declaration of Results & Admission: 15th February 2025 to 5th March 2025
Closing Date of Admission: 6th March 2025
Date of Reporting to Department: 17th March 2025
🎓 Admission Modes & Eligibility:
1️⃣ RET-Exempted:
Eligible candidates:
Those with a valid JRF (UGC/CSIR/ICMR/DBT or equivalent).
Candidates eligible for direct admission as per BHU guidelines.
Important Notes:
Selection is based 100% on interview performance.
Lectureship/Assistant Professorship without JRF is NOT eligible under this mode.
A valid JRF certificate must be presented during document verification.
2️⃣ RET Mode:
Eligible candidates:
Category 1: JRF-qualified candidates.
Category 2: NET-qualified for Assistant Professorship (without JRF).
Category 3: Candidates eligible for PhD but not qualified for JRF or Assistant Professorship.
Selection Process:
Weightage: 70% NET/RET score + 30% interview performance.
For candidates in agricultural disciplines, the ASRB NET score (June 2024) will be used.
📌 General Eligibility:
Master’s degree in the relevant/allied disciplines with at least 55% marks.
Relaxation of 5% for OBC, SC, ST, PwBD candidates.

UGC draft proposes removing NET as a mandatory qualification for:
🔹 M.Tech/M.E. graduates with 55% marks.
🔹 M.Sc. + PhD holders with:
PG degree with 55% marks.
However, for M.Sc. candidates without a PhD, NET/SLET/SET is still required.
