With this new feature, you can export layouts without a grainline for CNC cutting or other purposes, while still retaining the necessary information for generating the layout.

Hi everyone, it's Roman! Today, I'm excited to share a tip for dealing with issues related to notches in Valentina.
While we have control over seam allowance shape, notches are something we can't fully control. Sometimes, even when we select the type and length of notch, the application may produce incorrect results or refuse to draw the notch altogether. But with my new change, you can worry about this issue a little less!
In the past, the application tried to build a seam allowance with the notch's point as the first item in the list. If this failed, Valentina could no longer produce the notch and would send you a warning message. But with my new change, this is no longer necessary. Even if the seam allowance fails in certain cases, you can still build the correct notch without worrying about any issues related to the seam allowance.
This change will be included in the next release of Valentina. In the meantime, you can download the latest build on Dropbox.

We are excited to announce the latest development in Valentina - the addition of a two ways grainline with a 45-degree angle! This feature was requested by a user and required a lot of work, including the addition of a second line that is always perpendicular to the main grainline and is of the same length.
To name all the possible combinations of this new grainline type, we took inspiration from the Four ways grainline with a 90-degree angle. Each side of the Four ways grainline has a name: Up, Down, Left, Right. Using this naming principle, the new combinations of the four ways grainline have been named, resulting in a total of 12 possible combinations. These combinations range from One way (Up) to Three ways (Down/Left/Right).
As with all features in Valentina, this new grainline type is not just a visual representation, it has a direct impact on layout generation. This applies to both Valentina and Puzzle, our pattern making software.

Valentina is constantly evolving to meet the needs of its users. This time, while working on DXF-ASTM, a new idea was born. Why not add a new type of notch - the Check Notch? This notch is shaped like a V, with one side perpendicular to the boundary starting at the notch base point. It looks like a check mark or tick mark.

Great news for Valentina users! The latest changes now give you more control over notches on your patterns. In the past, the notch was "straightforward" and did not take into consideration the shape of the dart, which was a problem when dealing with darts. Previously, we suggested continuing the line of the dart to the intersection with a seam allowance to address this issue. However, with the latest changes, you no longer need to do this as you now have control over the length, width, and angle of the notch! This gives you greater flexibility and precision when working with your patterns. So, whether you're a professional designer or an amateur seamstress, these changes will make your pattern-making experience much smoother and more efficient.
An important update for our Valentina users on Apple devices. Today, I bring you some disappointing news. Due to the architecture change with the Apple M1 chip, we regret to inform you that a native version of Valentina for the M1 chip may not be available anytime soon.
The challenge lies in the fact that we can no longer test our macOS version on x86 CPUs if we target the arm processor. Hardware access is crucial for us to properly test and fix bugs. Without it, we are left in a frustrating state of "should work, don't know why not."
We understand the impact this has on our valued Apple users, and we want to be transparent about the current situation. In the meantime, we encourage Apple users to explore alternative solutions that cater to their pattern-making needs.

Exciting news from Valentina! As we prepare changes for piece labels, we're taking the opportunity to fulfill an old standing request - independent translation for label placeholders. Let's do a quick recap. Among the extensive list of placeholders, there is a special group representing different words that you don't control. These words are translated based on your language settings. In the past, there was no way to switch the translation language for labels independently of the user interface (UI) language. However, that's no longer the case!
With the latest updates, Valentina now allows you to switch the translation language for labels separately from the UI language. To ensure backward compatibility, the default setting will continue to translate labels based on the UI language. But fear not! You have the freedom to switch to your preferred language for label translations within the Preferences.

Exciting news for Valentina users! We have another label update. Previously, font size was fixed, leading to potential loss of information if strings were too long. Now, you can break long strings within labels to save space. Valentina no longer auto-adjusts font size, but be careful with small labels or big fonts. Valentina skips strings that don't fit. Enjoy improved label control for better appearance and readability. Adjust font and label size as needed. Your feedback helps us refine and enhance Valentina for seamless pattern-making.
