Consider the following statements regarding the Supreme Court's ruling in the L. Chandra Kumar v. Union of India (1997) case:

1)โ€‹ It declared the power of judicial review vested in High Courts under Articles 226 and 227 as part of the basic structure of the Constitution.

2)โ€‹ It ruled that appeals against the orders of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) must lie directly to the Supreme Court to ensure speedy justice for civil servants.

3)โ€‹ It struck down the clauses in Articles 323A and 323B that excluded the jurisdiction of High Courts.

Why are anti-cruelty protections (like Section 85 BNS) applied by SCI only to live-in relationships "in the nature of marriage" rather than all cohabiting couples?
If two people share a home and build a life together, should a missing piece of paper mean the law won't protect them from abuse?

Solution for the CSAT PYQ of Today

Question 46:

โ€‹Statement 1 is Correct:
The passage explicitly states, "The key source of the battle for clean skies and clear lungs is the fuel we burn".

โ€‹Statement 2 is Incorrect:
The passage claims that bans are effective when "people need alternatives," not because of a "strong will" or people being "convinced".

โ€‹Statement 3 is Correct:
The text notes that the Supreme Court (judicial approval) agreed that "fiscal measures were needed to keep clean fuel cheaper than dirty fuel".

Option C is correct.

โ€‹Question 47:

โ€‹Statement 1 is Incorrect:
Thermal power plants were not required to summarily shut down; they had the option to "clean up or shut down".

The word to know here was summarily which means immideately.

โ€‹Statement 2 is Correct:
The passage directly states, "When diesel buses were stopped, CNG supply had to be assured".

โ€‹Statement 3 is Incorrect:
The Delhi Government banned the use of coal across the National Capital Region, while the Supreme Court specifically banned the use of "pet coke".

We think of the internet's "cloud" as an invisible, limitless space. But in reality, what very physical bottleneck threatens India's ambition to become a global AI and cloud hub?
What happens when our endless digital lives start consuming more electricity and water than our actual cities?

Day 18 Sleepy CSAT PYQ Series Today, we will be looking at a P&C question. We alternate between RC, LR and Quant PYQs in this series. Try to solve it. Solutions will be provided later today.
Solution to Today's CSAT PYQ

This was a basic P&C question.

2 steps.

1) We just consider [QU] to be one entity

2) We should know that when arranging items, if a certain entity is repeated, we divide the total permutations (the numerator) by the factorial of that repetition's frequency.

Here E occurs twice

So we divide by 2!

Answer is 12
