Around nine hours ago, a suspicious transfer of 3,520 BTC (worth roughly $330.7 million) was made from a potential victim’s account. After reaching a specific address, the Bitcoin was rapidly converted into Monero (XMR) across several exchanges, leading to a 50% surge in XMR’s price.

What is interesting about this Monero situation, is that without a significant futures or options market, it is difficult for the derivative tail to wag the asset dog.

In this sense, by banning it from exchanges, the spooks have really done everyone a massive favor.

Official FBI and SEC policy w.r.t. captured Monero is to hold it and never sell it. Which also makes for a shallower market. They really can't win.

What would be ideal, would be also banning Bitcoin from exchanges, and then when the tide goes out, we see who is swimming naked.
