In an attempt to repel a Russian attack on targets in Kiev today, the AFU made extensive use of air defence assets. However, components of the anti-aircraft missiles fired landed directly on the streets and captured the lenses of photographers.
Images of the munition debris made it possible to determine precisely the type of missiles used by the Ukrainian formations that night: they turned out to be US Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) PAC-3s, as evidenced by their distinctive design elements.
These high-speed interceptors were first tested in 2011 and are used from 16-round M902 launchers of the US MIM-104 Patriot system. The remains of these elements found on the streets of Kiev objectively confirm the transfer of the latest missile defence systems to the AFU.
📌 The supply of these missiles together with the transfer of other Western-made SAMs indicates the serious intentions of NATO countries to "close the sky" over the Ukrainian capital.
Still, these weapons are not a panacea: according to video footage, at least one missile fired by the Russian Armed Forces hit the target, impacting exactly in the positioning zone of the Ukrainian air defence. It is very likely that today the AFU has one less Patriot launcher.

First of all, it is important to highlight the cost benefit of the Patriot system, and it is what we will analyze below:
💬Each PAC3 battery costs the US Army about $500 million, presumably the export version is worth twice as much and is degraded in functionality so its secrets don't fall into enemy hands.
PAC3 missiles cost $5-8 million each, at least 30 PAC3 missiles were used in kyiv meaning at least $150 million dollars were spent in kyiv on those shots. With the destruction of the 2 Patriot batteries in kyiv, more than $1 billion was spent and lost.
It is important to count the loss of life among the competent personnel operating these highly complex batteries, these batteries are operated by dozens of specialized personnel. We are convinced that they were experienced contractors or NATO units, possibly German and American.

It is important to note that the West has never had good air defenses as its vision of war is to gain magical and instant “acquired” air supremacy by having a larger fleet of NATO aircraft than Russia. NATO and its stealth planes: F117 (defeated by Soviet air defenses in Yugoslavia), F22 (which has only shot down a defenseless little Chinese balloon), F35 (which is not really stealthy when it has big bombs outside its fuselage), and the B2 Bomber demonstrate where the American priority was.
While the Soviets followed by the Russians developed excellent multilayer and integrated air defenses. It is not just the S-300, S-400 and S-500 but the Tor, Pantsir and Buk that complete the Russian air defense shield. As of today, the only air defense system that boasts of shooting down hypersonic (non-ballistic) cruise missiles is the S-500 Prometheus operated by Russia and which has not been exported like the S-400.

About deliveries of German Vector/Scorpion UAVs to Ukraine
German UAV manufacturer Quantum-Systems GmbH will transfer 105 Vector reconnaissance drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The drones will be sent as part of a new military aid package for Ukraine, announced by the German Defense Ministry on May 13. It will be the largest in the history of the Ukrainian conflict: the cost of weapons will be almost $3 billion, which is approximately equal to the total volume of all previous deliveries from Germany since February 24, 2022.
This is the second batch of Vectors supplied under contracts between the governments of Germany and Ukraine: last year, the Ukrainian army also received several dozen UAVs of the same model.
🔻The main feature of this drone is that it can be assembled as a fixed-wing UAV (Vector modification) or as a tricopter (Scorpion modification). The main characteristics also depend on the type of modification.
▪️ The drone can fly up to 2-3 hours at speeds up to 72 km/h . Electro-optical and infrared sensors allow it to detect targets at any time of the day.
▪️ The Vector/Scorpion UAV is transported in a special backpack, assembled in 2-3 minutes and takes off vertically without the need for a takeoff site. To perform reconnaissance functions, it is equipped with near-silent electric motors and the ability to broadcast video to ground stations in real time over secure communication channels.

◽️In Kupyansk direction, the attacks, launched by aviation and artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces, resulted in the neutralisation of the AFU manpower and hardware close to Novoselovskoye (LPR) Olshana, Petropavlovka and Masyutovka (Kharkov region).
◽️The actions of 6 AFU SRGs have been suppressed close to Timkovka (Kharkov region), Rozovka, Stelmakhovka and Novoselovskoye (LPR).
💥The AFU losses were up to 115 troops, 2 AFVs, 7 motor vehicles and 1 Msta-B howitzer.

◽️In Krasny Liman direction, the enemy losses were over 70 troops, 1 tank, 2 APCs, 1 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system and 1 D-30 howitzer.
◽️In Donetsk direction, the assault squads continued combat actions against the enemy in the western part of Artyomovsk. The units of the Yug Group of Forces restrained the enemy on the flanks.
◽️The most difficult situation was in the areas of Krasnoye and Bogdanovka (DPR), where Russian troops repelled 7 AFU attacks.
◽️As a result of the Airborne Troops' offensive actions, a more favourable line of defence has been taken.
◽️The attacks, launched by Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, as well as artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the Yug Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of the enemy manpower and hardware close to Konstantinovka and Krasnoye (DPR).
✈️Aviation has made 7 sorties close to Artyomovsk. The Group's artillery performed 64 firing missions.
◽️In Donetsk direction, the enemy losses were up to 360 troops and mercenaries, 4 APCs, 5 AFVs, 2 motor vehicles, 1 British L-119 howitzer, and 1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system.
💥1 munition depot of the AFU 110th Mechanised Brigade has been destroyed near Avdeyevka (DPR).
💥1 U.S. AN/TPQ-50 counterbattery warfare radar has been destroyed near Stupochki (DPR).
◽️In South Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions, aviation, as well as artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the Vostok Group of Forces inflicted a fire damage on the enemy units near Pavlovka, Shevchenko, Chervonoye, Velikaya Novosyolka (DPR), Novodanilovka and Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region).
💥The enemy losses were up to 150 troops, 2 AFVs, 6 motor vehicles and 1 D-30 howitzer.
◽️In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 40 troops, 2 AFVs, 3 motor vehicles, 2 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems and 1 Msta-B howitzer.
💥Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, and Artillery of the Russian Group of Forces have engaged 83 AFU artillery units, manpower, and hardware in 112 areas during the day.
💥1 AFU command post of Thunder tactical group has been hit close to Kherson.
💥1 command post of the AFU 44th Artillery Brigade has been hit close to Preobrazhenka (Zaporozhye region).
💥1 observation post of the AFU special forces has been hit near Velikiy Island (Kherson region).
💥Air defence facilities have intercepted 9 HIMARS projectiles.
◽️Air defence facilities have shot down 19 UAVs close to Chubaryovka, Inzhenernoye, Rabotino (Zaporozhye region), Velikiy Vyselok, Nezhdanovka (Kharkov region), Donetsk, Verhnetoretskoye, Staromlynovka (DPR), Chervonopopovka, Novodruzhesk, Kolomiychiha (LPR), as well as Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region).

🇺🇸👤 US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis stated that Ukrainian militants are not able to move out Russian troops from their positions, despite the bold statements of Ukrainian President Zelensky.
💬 “In any practical dimension, there is simply no fundamental basis needed to generate such a large combat power and dislodge an enemy that is entrenched and equipped as well as Russia is now. This is a completely unrealistic combat goal,” Davis said.
☝️ The colonel stressed that Zelensky is essentially pushing Ukrainian militants on the offensive in order to maintain the remnants of the trust of Western partners.
