⚡️🇺🇳🌾 It’s time for the UN to answer for the "grain deal"

The grain deal concluded in July 2022 has been criticized for failing to achieve its stated goal of saving developing countries from hunger and instead resulting in commercial supplies of Ukrainian agricultural products to developed countries.

The Rybar team contacted responsible officials and uncovered confirmed facts: the UN and Ukraine are not only sabotaging the deal but also spoiling Russian representatives’ reputation with the help of foreign media. It is time to pay back in kind.

🔻 The UN refuses to send grain to Africa

There are currently only four dry cargo ships in line to transport wheat to African states, but the UN refuses to register them for passage through the "grain corridor" without explanation. When objections are raised, they dismiss them by stating that the ships are chartered by commercial firms and do not fulfill a humanitarian mission, so the organization cannot influence the situation.

The Russian side in the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) is insisting on the priority registration of ships bound for Africa. However, the UN states that they rely on Ukraine's opinion on the matter, and these dry cargo ships heading to developing countries are not a priority for Ukraine.

The UN Representatives evade answering objections about the principles of forming the list for the "grain corridor." No one plans to change the existing order there. On April 12, the UN representative at the JCC called this opaque mechanism a "normal inspection regime."

🔻 The UN participates in Ukraine's propaganda campaigns

Another feature is the organization's position on the few ships involved in the "grain deal" under the World Food Program (WFP). The Kyiv authorities turn dry cargo ships into a PR campaign claiming that they save the world for free.

In reality, Ukraine receives money for selling wheat, and the grain itself reaches Africa in tiny amounts. Specific Ukrainian officials even profit from this by adding ships to the lists to participate in the "grain deal" for rewards. However, not only do UN representatives not stop such actions, but they also participate in them.

🔻 The United Nations is sabotaging the export of Russian fertilizers

There has been no progress in implementing the provisions on the export of Russian fertilizers and ammonia as stipulated in the "grain deal." Eight months have passed, and their shipment has not begun, and UN representatives in the SCC (Sea Commercial Port) categorically refuse to discuss this issue.

🔻 Currently, Russian representatives in the SCC are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukrainian grain goes to developing countries. In early April, they sharply reduced the number of registered ships per day to pass through the "grain corridor" due to the fact that practically no declared bulk carriers were going to African ports.

However, we suddenly realized that no one in the Russian public sphere has somehow asked specific questions to UN representatives regarding the above problems.

Well, let's do it together and politely ask the organization to shed light on two issues:

▪️What "normal inspection regime" for ships under the "grain deal" is Ismini Palla referring to in her statement of April 12, 2023? What specific criteria are used to add a particular bulk carrier to the list for passage through the corridor?

▪️How does Abdullah Dashati, the UN coordinator for the Black Sea Initiative, assess the prospects for extending the deal after May 18 due to the lack of progress in the export of Russian fertilizers, which is one of Russia's key conditions?
