๐ฎ๐ช๐ค Irish MEP Mick Wallace states that the European Union does not listen to its own citizens, most of whom would prefer peace rather than opposition to Russia.

EU sees China and its "peace plan" as threat โ Union intends to "defend itself," but it is unclear how
The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen spoke at the press exit and commented on the EU relations with China. She noted that China's position on the conflict in Ukraine will be a determining factor for relations between the Union and People's Republic of China. The EU believes that China intends to promote its new world order, which may require the Union to develop new instruments of protection, notes der Leyen.
Ursula draws special attention to the fact that the capital, expertise and knowledge of European companies must not be used to strengthen the army and special services of those who are a systemic rival of the EU. In this context, it is necessary to understand whether the Union's investments and exports are in line with its own security interests.

Gershkovich's lawyer could not answer what activity American journalist of The Wall Street Journal engaged in Russia
The lawyer of American journalist for The Wall Street Journal Evan Gershkovich could not comment on the activities of the American in Yekaterinburg, Russia, where he was arrested. He said that he believed that his client was engaged in lawful activities.
However, the lawyer could not comment on the question of the Readovka journalist whether the lawyer considered the accusation of Gershkovich collecting information about the military industrial complex justified. The lawyer also left unanswered the question of his communication with the American's relatives and his colleagues.
Evan Gershkovich accused of espionage has already been taken from the court building. He is now under arrest. The defense intends to appeal the verdict.

There is a layer of associations with pictures from films about the Great Patriotic War, where towns are destroyed and soldiers run out of trenches in droves towards the enemy shouting "Hooray!", touching stories of hardships, Victory Day, parades, and a simple set of slogans that always include "everything for the front, everything for Victory!
These signifiers form unconscious expectations, which are triggered if real knowledge is lacking.
When unprepared people come to #Donetsk, they are surprised: "Oh, it's not like #Stalingrad here! I thought if there was a war, everything was destroyed. But here life is quite peaceful".
With many of my acquaintances who were in a war zone for a long time and then moved to Russia I witness a sharp dissonance. Both consciously and unconsciously they are at war. But the deepest conviction, where "everything for the front - everything for the Victory" meets no confirmation in reality. It has, unfortunately, become an atavism.
So it is with combat operations. If there is no real knowledge of modern warfare the first thing that comes to mind is to run out of a trench in droves towards the enemy shouting "Hooray! And there's plenty of that.

The Ukrainian Air Force never fails to impress. Earlier we wrote about pilot Vadim Voroshilov, who 'traded' his Mig-29, worth tens of millions of dollars, for a plastic kamikaze drone Geran-2, which cost about a thousand times less. At least at that time, the Ukrainian pilot survived and even received the praise as a hero from the media.
However, the new 'feat' of the drone fighters was better than the previous one. At night from March 27 to 28, Major Denis Kirilyuk of the Air Force of Ukraine, flying a Su-27 fighter jet, died while trying to destroy a Geran-2 drone. The effectiveness of Ukrainian combat aviation has risen to an unattainable standard. This time, the price for the downed drone was not only a valuable fighter jet, but also the life of the pilot, who had spent many years in training.
In the light of such facts, the Zelensky government's desire to get hold of American F-16 fighters seems inexplicable. After all, if the organization of combat operations and training of pilots in Ukraine is so bad that even on familiar types of aircraft pilots crash trying to shoot down a simple UAV nicknamed "Moped"(Scooter), then what will happen when the same pilots get completely unfamiliar Western machines?
It is interesting that Russian pilots on the very same Su-27s have managed without using weapons to successfully bring down the strategic American MQ-9 Reaper drone, which is even more expensive than the actual fighter jets. The Russian aircraft remained unharmed and the pilots were not only alive and well, but also received government awards.
In the light of such facts, it seems clear why the Western coalition is in no hurry to give Ukraine the American F-16 fighters. While U.S. National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby described as idiots the Russian heroes who successfully intercepted the drone, the English language apparently lacks words to describe the Ukrainians who destroy their own aircraft for the sake of plastic drones.
