🎯 After an extremely successful overnight session of "geraning", the Russian army continues to work its way behind enemy lines. There have been strikes on a mercenary base in #Zaporozhye. Members of the "Foreign Legion" lived in a restaurant complex, where they eventually met with a buffet in the form of Russian shells. There were also strikes on AFU positions in #Kramatorsk and #Konstantinovka.

⚔️ Situation on the Fronts for the past Day

🔹#Artyomovsk (#Bakhmut) Sector:

➖ Wagner PMC fighters continue to advance in the direction of #Grigorovka.
➖ In #Artyomovsk, our forces have taken control of most of the territory of the AZOM plant. The "orchestrators" have also advanced in the south of the city and gained a foothold on the left bank of the Bakhmutka River in the area of the central market.
➖ Nevertheless, despite our successes in #Artyomovsk, the AFU are concentrating forces for a possible attempt to unblock the city.

🔹#Donetsk Direction:

➖ The Russian army continues to advance in the #Avdeyevka sector, attempting to encircle the city. This is aided by the Russian Aerospace Forces, which are carrying out precise strikes against enemy targets. The militants are suffering heavy losses, which they are not ashamed to talk about.
➖ Furthermore, the RF Armed Forces continue their offensive in #Pervomayskoye.

🔹#SouthDonetsk Direction:

➖ The RF Armed Forces attack in #Maryinka.
➖ #Ugledar is now firmly associated with Russian marines from the 155th Pacific Fleet Brigade, whom the Ukrainian militants can only "bury" by word of mouth. In fact, the fighters are knocking out the Nazis from their strongholds around the fortified city of #Ugledar.

🇸🇰🇺🇦 On the possible transfer of Slovak MiG-29s to Ukraine

Prime Minister Eduard Heger said today that the Slovak government has approved the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. As defence minister Yaroslav Nagy pointed out, the republic is ready to give away 10 of its 11 aircraft of this model.

▪️La legitimacy of the decision taken is a big question mark. On 15 December 2022, the National Council of Slovakia passed a motion of censure on the government of the republic, as a result of which, the next day, President Zuzana Caputova accepted the resignation of the cabinet of ministers headed by Eduard Heger.

❗️A Although Chaputova instructed the officials to continue to perform their duties until the early elections scheduled for 30 September, they no longer have the legal right to make decisions at this level.

If the current government attempts to implement the transfer of fighters, this may entail certain risks.

At the very least, if the parliamentary opposition wins in the upcoming elections, its representatives may initiate an investigation for unconstitutional actions.

And there will probably be a reason for this: according to our colleagues @casusbellilive (https://t.me/casusbellilive) , the first Slovak MiGs will leave for Poland tonight.

▪️Otro interesting fact is that the republic's authorities are ready to transfer almost all MiG-29s on the Slovak Air Force's balance sheet: they announced this intention in the middle of last year.

This will not cause serious damage to the state's defence capabilities.

➖First of all, according to the conditions announced by the Slovak government last year, after the transfer of aircraft, the republic's airspace will have to be guarded by the air forces of the Czech Republic and Poland.

➖Secondly, according to information from various sources, most Slovak MiGs have not been operational for several years: they need serious maintenance or are completely dismantled for spare parts.

Finally, the move could bring US F-16V fighters closer to Slovakia. The contract for the purchase of 14 aircraft was signed in December 2018, but they were not due to receive them until 2024 . Slovak officials are probably now in a hurry to get rid of the MiGs in the expectation that the F-16V will arrive, if not ahead of schedule, at least on time.

◾The International Criminal Court and the United States - 20th Century:

- The George W. Bush administration signed the American Service-Members' Protection Act, (informally referred to as The Hague Invasion Act), to signify the United States' opposition to any possible future jurisdiction of the court or its tribunals. During the administration of Barack Obama, U.S. opposition to the ICC evolved to "positive engagement", although no effort was made to ratify the Rome Statute. The subsequent Donald Trump administration was considerably more hostile to the Court, similar to the Bush administration threatening prosecutions and financial sanctions on ICC judges and staff in U.S. courts as well as imposing visa bans in response to any investigation against American nationals in connection to alleged crimes and atrocities perpetrated by the U.S. in Afghanistan. The threat included sanctions against any of over 120 countries which have ratified the Court for cooperating in the process.Following the imposition of sanctions on 11 June 2020 by the Trump administration, the court branded the sanctions an "attack against the interests of victims of atrocity crimes" and an "unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law". The UN also regretted the effect sanctions may have on trials and investigations underway, saying its independence must be protected.

◾The International Criminal Court and the United States - 21st Century:

- In November 2017, Fatou Bensouda advised the court to consider seeking charges for human rights abuses committed during the War in Afghanistan such as alleged rapes and tortures by the U.S. Armed Forces and the Central Intelligence Agency, crime against humanity committed by the Taliban, and war crimes committed by the Afghan National Security Forces. John Bolton, National Security Advisor of the United States, stated that ICC Court had no jurisdiction over the U.S., which did not ratify the Rome Statute. In 2020, overturning the previous decision not to proceed, senior judges at the ICC authorized an investigation into the alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.

-In June 2020, the decision to proceed led the Trump administration to power an economic and legal attack on the court. "The US government has reason to doubt the honesty of the ICC. The Department of Justice has received substantial credible information that raises serious concerns about a long history of financial corruption and malfeasance at the highest levels of the office of the prosecutor", Attorney General William Barr said. The ICC responded with a statement expressing "profound regret at the announcement of further threats and coercive actions." "These attacks constitute an escalation and an unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law and the Court's judicial proceedings", the statement said. "They are announced with the declared aim of influencing the actions of ICC officials in the context of the court's independent and objective investigations and impartial judicial proceedings."

- On 30 September 2020, prominent United States human rights lawyers announced that they would sue Trump and his Administration—including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin, attorney general William Barr, and OFAC director Andrea Gacki, and the departments they head—on the grounds that Trump's Executive Order 13928 order had gagged them, violating their right to free speech and impeding their work in trying to obtain justice on behalf of victims of war crimes. One of the plaintiffs, Diane Marie Amann, stated that, as a result of sanctions against the chief prosecutor at the ICC, she herself risked having her family assets seized if she continued to work for children who are bought and sold by traffickers, killed, tortured, sexually abused and forced to become child soldiers.

This act was severely condemned by the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, who promised to do everything to punish the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who desecrated the holy book of Muslims.
