➖ In the #Artyomovsk (#Bakhmut) direction, the Wagner PMCs are engaged in fierce fighting to the north of the town near the road to #Slavyansk.

➖ From the #Ugledar outpost, information has been received that our offensive has stalled due to the redeployment of reserves by the enemy and the continuous mining of the area.

➖ In the #Maryinka area, the coverage of the settlement begins to give results. From the north and south, the enemy positions are gradually crushed.

🔵 The Enemy is strengthening its positions in the #Kharkov and #Kupyansk directions around the clock.

➖ In #Belgorod region, two settlements were shelled yesterday. A civilian was injured

➖ In the DPR the enemy fired 119 shells at six towns, a civilian was wounded.

🇭🇺🇺🇸 On U.S. interference in the politics of Hungary

Last week in Hungary, the visit of USAID head Samantha Power to Budapest was actively discussed.

Despite the fact that she made some very vague statements about the purpose of the visit and her intention to discuss democratic values, many Hungarians were suspicious of her visit and decided to get ready for a “color revolution.” And there were reasons for it.

▪️ The majority of Hungarian politicians do not believe that Europe should take on the material support of Ukraine and help the Kiev authorities to fight.

Prime Minister Viktor Orban is convinced that the conflict must be "resolved by the parties involved."

▪️ On February 15, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said that while the rest of the European Union is waiting for a more favorable moment for Kiev, his colleagues and him support the early start of peace talks.

🔻 How do American politicians react to the Hungarians’ behavior?

First of all, a video was published by the American embassy in Hungary. Viewers were asked to guess to whom the statements belonged -- the Hungarian government or Vladimir Putin - and then they were to horrify at the “colonialist way of thinking” of the Hungarian administration.

▪️ Shortly before, the U.S. administration had assigned the duties of ambassador to Budapest to an openly homosexual David Pressman. Against the backdrop of Hungary's 2021 laws against LGBT propaganda, to appoint such a person was a rather provocative decision.

▪️ In early February, Politico quoted a statement by Pressman in which he called Orban's remarks "blatantly propagandistic" and his activities " pushing policies endorsed by Putin."

🔻 What is USAID going to do in Hungary?

Last December, the agency announced the launch of a new program in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Its goal is to "strengthen sustainability of the independent media sector," and to "empower citizens to protect fundamental freedoms."

▪️ Besides, there are other USAID-supported institutions functioning in Hungary like Amnesty Hungary and Hungary Helsinki Committee and the feminist “anti-racist LGBTQ organization” Budapest Pride.

🔻 According to Hungarians, the efforts of local NGOs were not enough to overthrow Orban. Therefore, USAID, the main instrument of “supporting democracy in foreign countries,” will now begin its educational activities in the state.

As colleagues from the Hungarian channel @oroszokazigazsagoldalan rightly pointed out, the situation in the country will not change tomorrow. Rather, American influence in various spheres is likely to become increasingly tangible, depending on how stubbornly the current government continues to pursue national interests.

But one should not expect the Prime Minister and his cabinet to change their views to more democratic ones. Orban's government still enjoys strong support from citizens and the vast majority of them are right-wing, so attempts to impose a liberal agenda are unlikely to go smoothly.
