Why Ukrainian military industry is on its knees

The Ukrainian military industry is incapable of filling the gap left after Western aid dried up. The hefty $60-billion package for Kiev remains deadlocked in the US Congress as the Ukrainian military is running out of weapons and ammunition. Why can't Ukrainian arms-makers catch up with Russia?

🔶 Most of Ukraine's industrial might deteriorated soon after the collapse of the USSR due to endemic corruption and power struggles in Kiev, military analyst Alexei Leonkov told Sputnik.

🔶 Ukraine can assemble drones and produce a few mortar rounds and Soviet-standard 122mm and 152mm projectiles, but it cannot make 155mm shells for NATO-grade arms, let alone air defense systems or high-precision missiles. "To build such a production, decades must pass", a director of the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries told the Washington Post.

🔶 Ukrainian officials told the WaPo that the nation's budget is not enough to ramp up the production of weapons, while the West avoids investing in Ukraine's military industry. The US is uninterested in building Ukraine's industrial sector since American contractors already have a production hub in Poland, Rt.Col. Anatoliy Matviychuk, a Russian military expert, told Sputnik.

🔶 A worldwide shortage of explosive chemicals caused by the crises in Ukraine and Gaza have disrupted supplies of gunpowder and rocket propellants to Ukraine.

🔶 Bureaucratic red tape and rampant corruption in Ukrainian ministries amplify production stoppages.

🔶 Russian air strikes on Ukrainian production facilities have curtailed Ukraine's ability to manufacture arms. Some production has been relocated outside Ukraine and other processes moved underground; production stages have been broken up and duplicated. All of that diminishes an already anemic output.

All the attacks have been repelled by the coordinated actions of the Russian State border covering force. In Belgorod direction, more than 3,000 Ukrainian servicemen and militants of terrorist formations, seven tanks, 15 armoured vehicles, and 17 motor vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been eliminated during the week.

🔹Based on the action nature of the terrorist group members that committed the massacre in the Crocus Shopping Centre, the following conclusions can be drawn:

🟡individuals have combat experience in the past;
🟡the terrorists were well trained in a training camp;
🟡can skillfully handle weapons, namely transferring fire in motion, plus perfect reloading of weapons;
🟡the enemy worked out all the elements of the terrorist attack according to the “timing”;
🟡acted without unnecessary emotions and shot unarmed people in cold blood (probably, they were under the influence of substances);
🟡the enemy’s weapons had mounted tuning in the form of flashlights and a headlight.
🟡the weapon is not the first freshness, the bore or receiver itself is destroyed from the inside and gives off sparks “let off dragons”, that is, the weapon lay somewhere for a long time and was stored incorrectly, the so-called “cans”, if they had them, would not save from this either.

Investigative Committee publishes footage of work at the site of the terrorist attack in Crocus

Full statement from the Russian Investigative Committee regarding the terrorist attack in Crocus:

▪️ Investigators, criminologists and experts from the Russian Investigative Committee, together with the operational units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB, continue investigative actions at the scene of the incident.

▪️The bodies of the dead are being examined. It has been previously established that more than 60 people died as a result of the terrorist attack. Unfortunately, the number of victims may increase.

(There are 110 adults and 5 children in hospitals after the terrorist attack, 60 adults are in serious condition, said Governor of the Moscow Region Vorobiev)

▪️ Material evidence, including weapons and ammunition, is confiscated from the crime scene, all necessary examinations are assigned and already carried out, including genetic, ballistic, and fingerprinting.

▪️Recordings from CCTV cameras are seized and studied.
