The French Republican Party has initiated expulsion proceedings against Cyril Gaucher, deputy mayor of Talant, a commune in eastern France, after he served as an international observer at last week's presidential election in Russia, Gaucher told Sputnik Africa, adding that the party threatened to "call his career into question and throw him lower than dirt."
Gaucher also denounced the ostracism of which he considers himself a victim.
Regarding the Russian elections, which took place from March 15 to 17, he described "a very calm climate." "It wasn't a make-up, it wasn't an illusion," he explained.

Mass shooting at Moscow concert hall called a terrorist attack
This Friday a shooting occurred at the large Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow, leaving numerous victims. Several people dressed in camouflage clothing opened fire inside the facility.

Why Ukrainian military industry is on its knees
The Ukrainian military industry is incapable of filling the gap left after Western aid dried up. The hefty $60-billion package for Kiev remains deadlocked in the US Congress as the Ukrainian military is running out of weapons and ammunition. Why can't Ukrainian arms-makers catch up with Russia?
๐ถ Most of Ukraine's industrial might deteriorated soon after the collapse of the USSR due to endemic corruption and power struggles in Kiev, military analyst Alexei Leonkov told Sputnik.
๐ถ Ukraine can assemble drones and produce a few mortar rounds and Soviet-standard 122mm and 152mm projectiles, but it cannot make 155mm shells for NATO-grade arms, let alone air defense systems or high-precision missiles. "To build such a production, decades must pass", a director of the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries told the Washington Post.
