RECENT AFRICAN AND WEST ASIAN DEVELOPMENTS IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SLAVERY

Human trafficking and slavery are inter-connected, and often thought of as the same thing. But, writing as a person whose confirmation bias is influenced by having slaves as well as slave-owners and slave-traders as ancestors, I do not find them so.

Slaves are real estate. Human trafficking is trade. The boundaries are blurred, but the distinctions are real.

A slave tends to be seen by the owner as a part of that individual's personal wealth. And, where a person's treasure lies, we can find a person's heart. If the slave-holder's heart is a good one and the slave's personality compatible, then the slave will become a much loved part of the slave-holder's unofficial extended family. On the other hand, if the slave-holder's heart is satanic, then the slave's life can easily become pure hell. Slavery has no moral defense, but, on the individual level, the results are highly variable.

With regard to Africa, extra-legal slavery can still be documented as still existing in Mauritania. However, because it has a several thousand year history, we find the pattern of self-perceived extended family membership of slaves being still quite common. Of course, the number of slaves is decreasing year-by-year due to owners having no property right protection. Nevertheless, some technically free people still designate themselves as the slave of a prominent person because of the respect others give them due to the perception that, if they are or once were that person's slave, that automatically means that they have a type of recognized extended family membership in a socially high-ranking group.

Though the situation is complicated in Mauritania, in Libya it is quite different. There, slavery is a recent phenomenon. It developed as a result of American-led NATO intervention. With the chaos that ensued with Qaddafi's assassination, slavery, as an institution, re-established itself on an extra-legal basis and public slave auctions started appearing in Libyan cities. We must presume that here conditions are much less benign than in Mauritania.

On the other hand, human trafficking, being the commodification of human misery, almost never serves the best interest of the person whose misery is being commodified. Being international in scope, human trafficking afflicts the whole world with Africa primarily being a net exporter to Europe. It is in this manner that part of the market demand in Europe for human body parts, prostitutes, children put up for adoption, and ultra-cheap, ultra-exploitable, extra-legal labor is supplied.

It should be emphasized that Ukraine is another human trafficking exporter. And, due to decades-long foreign destabilization efforts, various West Asian nations are, too.

However, human trafficking to Europe must benefit its organizers. Fingers have not only been pointed at privately organized criminal organizations, but also at national intelligence agencies. As in the case of the drug trade and a significant part of the crypto-currency market, some have maintained that human trafficking for some groups making up these deep-state institutions is a part of their business model, providing them a lucrative source of off-budget income that can be used for whatever purpose they might wish. On this basis, we can assume that foreign destabilization efforts in Africa and West Asia will not soon end.

African and West Asian countries, therefore, should not seek outside protection. No member of the Collective West would actually do more than just pretend to give assistance, because there would be no profit from actually helping. Salvation has to come from within, not without.

🇫🇷 French deputy mayor suspended for observing Russian presidential election denounces "a political trial"

The French Republican Party has initiated expulsion proceedings against Cyril Gaucher, deputy mayor of Talant, a commune in eastern France, after he served as an international observer at last week's presidential election in Russia, Gaucher told Sputnik Africa, adding that the party threatened to "call his career into question and throw him lower than dirt."

"It says a lot about democracy in France today," the official said. "People [...] realize that France, whether in its colonial days or today, has often tried to impose its own vision of things, and that the world today is multilateral."

Gaucher also denounced the ostracism of which he considers himself a victim.

"There is a strong resistance in France against a certain 'pensée unique,' which mainly concerns the political world and the media," he said.

Regarding the Russian elections, which took place from March 15 to 17, he described "a very calm climate." "It wasn't a make-up, it wasn't an illusion," he explained.
