WHY AIR AID DROPS ARE A HUMILIATION TO THE PEOPLE OF GAZA

Some days ago, the Israeli army shot Gazans while they were taking aid from aid trucks. Well publicized air aid drops in Gaza took place a few days after. A common reaction from the Arabic-speaking world was that this was humiliating. Asking an informant living in the region why the air drops were commonly so described elicited the following response.

"For Gaza, the aid can be sent by trucks through Egypt or Jordan. The air drop forces people to run spontaneously to reach the mini-parachutes of aid, many of which land in the sea with the aid becoming damaged or lost.

Palestinians, in general and Gazans in particular, are known to be hardworking and all had nice apartments or houses. Now their houses are levelled to the ground. Consequently, the misleading image that is depicted by mainstream media is that of "Those hungry, homeless, Arabs can't even control themselves".

In addition, there is a great deal of showing off, like the photos of the king of Jordan wearing military attire aboard one of those planes trying to give a heroic impression. He, like others, is doing so only to try to save their faces and distract their people. They make a show of being humanitarian without being humanitarian.

Why Arabic-speaking people might feel this represented humiliation might also have a religious origin that became cultural. In the Arab world, people commonly say that, if you give charity, your right hand should not know what your left hand gave; and this means not bragging like Arab leaders are. As Chapter 2, verse 264 of the Quran states: "O People who Believe! Do not invalidate your charity by expressing favor and causing injury — like one who spends his wealth for people to see, and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day; his example is similar to that of a rock covered with dust and hard rain fell on it, leaving it as a bare rock".

Yet another image that comes to mind is from how the verb "to throw" is used in Egyptian Arabic. It's either a word used for throwing a ball or for throwing food to chickens or maybe stray cats or dogs or to throw something in the rubbish bin. Aside from throwing a ball, "throw" has to do with something unwanted that you dispense with.

And, what happens with an air drop is actually "throwing food" to starving people. Of course, no one can expect discipline and standing in queues when people are starving. The same thing happens when a food truck arrives, but, when comparing the air drop aid to truck aid, the image of chaos is magnified. And images of undisciplined people snatching aid are being projected, which dehumanizes and stigmatizes them and robs them of their dignity as human beings. It creates a sense among others that they are worthy of neglect, that they are not to be perceived of as being on an equal footing. "

To the above message from my informant, I would like to add that the Quranic quote is similar to one of the teachings of Christianity. I would also like to add that the American aid drop, in particular, was not only humiliating to the people of Gaza, but was even more humiliating to the American people in that it showed how impotent their government is. It provides 14 billion dollars in aid for Israel, but is not even allowed by Israelis to safely send humanitarian aid by truck to the sick and starving people of Gaza. The day this air drop happened was a day of great shame. The dog bites the hand that feeds it, but all the dog hears is "Good puppy!"

Since all emotions and feelings about the upcoming AFU attack with BEC and the loss of the patrol boat " Sergei Kotov " have subsided, we would like to talk in more detail about what happened that night.

And the goal of this analysis is not to reproach the Black Sea Fleet.

📌The goal is to show Ukrainian tactics and what you should pay attention to prevent this from happening in the future, and also talk about the problems of our fleet using the example of Project 22160 ships.

🔻 AFU attack progress:

▪️After midnight, the patrol ship "Sergey Kotov", which was on combat duty south of the Kerch Strait, was attacked by five AFU unmanned ships (they were preparing for the attack, the BECs were adrift in the central part of the Black Sea).

▪️Why did the five BECs hit the ship? The answer, unfortunately, lies in the problems of the Project 22160 ship itself (by no means do we want to divert focus from the Black Sea Fleet, but still).

The ships are simply not equipped with the necessary means of protection: there is no air defense or anti-submarine defence. Only two machine guns are catastrophically insufficient to achieve group objectives.

▪️After the impact, a tugboat and a patrol boat came to the aid of the crew, and a Mi-8 Rosguard helicopter flew to the site of the attack, destroying the sixth unmanned ship west of the "Sergei Kotov".

▪️At 3 in the morning, most of the crew was evacuated to tugboats (there were three in total) and it was decided to drag the ship to the port. However, the fight for survival that started late due to waiting for command orders (here the Black Fleet's lack of flexibility was directly to blame) essentially decided the outcome.

▪️In the morning, "Sergey Kotov" began to sink southeast of Cape Takil. Three more BECs appeared south of the Crimean Bridge, which was destroyed by the Mi-8 helicopter thanks to the illumination of the tugboats' searchlights. The bridge was apparently the target of the attack.

❗️Several important points can be seen throughout the attack:

➖Project 22160 ships are not equipped to combat modern threats. Relatively cheap BECs render expensive ships useless. This is even though they are also defenceless against unmanned aerial vehicles due to the lack of air defence.

➖At the same time, for some unknown reason, the crews of the searchlight tug and the Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Guard managed to deal with the BECs on their own.

➖The bureaucratic procedures that arose at the time of the attack caused the fight for the ship's survival to begin quite late. She could have been saved if everything had started on time.

➖For now, unfortunately, we have to admit that the entire fleet is out of practice in correcting its own mistakes: the same problems arise systematically. Going out on patrol alone without proper equipment and surveillance at night... nothing has changed yet.

➖But the tactics of the AFU have changed: they now attack at night in groups of up to 10 drones, and not one or two BECs (apparently, they first accumulate drones and then attack). In the absence of the necessary countermeasures and with poor visibility, this is quite logical, which always leads to the loss of ships.

⚡️🇮🇱🇵🇸⚔️ Escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Zone until the End of 5 March 2024⚡️

🔹In the #Gaza Strip, another drop of humanitarian aid took place. Part of the cargo again fell into the water. Some of the previous supplies were washed up on the beach near Kibbutz Zikim.

🔹In Gaza and Khan Yunis, there is low-intensity fighting between Palestinians and the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). The Israelis are making no attempt to advance, and both factions simply cannot do this.

🔹In the West Bank, more raids and arrests took place, causing clashes to break out in some localities. And a teenager with a knife tried to attack one of the IDF road posts and was shot dead.

🔹On the border with #Lebanon, the number of mutual strikes has increased. Hezbollah launched UAVs and rockets several times, and in the evening fired several dozen rockets at Kiryat Shmona.

🔹In the Red Sea, #Yemen's Houthis attacked #US destroyers, but the results of the attack are unknown. In turn, the Western coalition launched several strikes on territory controlled by Ansarallah (Houthis).
