Matt Stoller, the author of this, is arguably the most important writer in America about monopolies and government policy. Here he looks at how and why, at least in part for bureaucratic reasons, the Pentagon is unable to get the weapons supplies it needs.
⭐️ For example, there are about 400 Mergers & Acquisitions in the defense industry in America every year (actually, that's a DoD guestimate, they really don't know how many) and there are only 2 people looking at this. They honestly don't know who owns the companies that make up the American defense industry!

It turns out closing your eyes, plugging your ears, and jabbering does not make things go away. You actually have to make long term plans and fix things. Between "Afghanistan and Iraq were not mistakes" neocons, "Libya was not a mistake" neoliberals, a "sexual identity politics are the most important thing for fighting a war" military culture, "I want to understand white rage and get my Raytheon check" leadership, a monopolized "gouge more, deliver less" military industrial complex, and "we hate all those who have traditionally signed up to fight" progressives, we are screwed. Then again, who would seriously consider joining the military when it is a clown show like this? I have met way too many old vets who have told their children not to follow in their footsteps.

🔹 Near #Kupyansk, Russian troops continue their systematic assault on Ukrainian positions. Over the past few days, localised attacks supported by artillery of the RF Armed Forces have dislodged the forces of the 115th Mechanized Brigade from several strongholds.
▪️ The enemy's losses have reached significant figures. Now formations of the Territorial Defence and 40th Artillery Brigade are mining the approaches to the frontlines in order to complicate the advance of the Russian Army.
❗️Nevertheless, the position of the AFU in the command of the #Kupyansk grouping is recognised as critical. To strengthen the frontlines in anticipation of a new phase of the Russian AFU offensive, the transfer of reinforcements has begun.
▪️ From #Soledar direction and from #Zhitomir region unidentified AFU units have been sent to #Kupyansk. Also 200 militants from the 4th National Guard and 300 from the 15th Border Guard Detachment of the Ukrainian State Security Service are manning the lines in #Dvurechnaya, #Sinkovka, #Petropavlovka and #Stelmakhovka.

🔹 Fighting continues around the #Avdeyevka fortified area. After clearing the #Slagheap, Russian fighters moved to defence and consolidation on the occupied areas, and the enemy on the contrary pulled reinforcements for counterattack.
▪️ Due to heavy losses, at least one Battalion of the AFU's 47th Mechanized Brigade was transferred from the #Orekhov section to #Ocheretino and #Novobakhmutovka. The AFU tried to attack the positions near the #Slagheap, but without success.
▪️ Similar enemy counterattacks were from the direction of the Coke Plant in #Avdeyevka, as well as at #Opytnoye and in #Pervomayskoye. Ukrainian formations intended to occupy the grey zone, but Russian artillery strikes forced them back to their initial positions.
❗️ Russian aviation and artillery continue to work on the enemy's lines. The losses of the AFU are growing: according to sources, during a week of active fighting, the number of killed AFU troops alone exceeded 1,000 militants and 60 pieces of equipment.
📌 There are also losses on our side, but thanks to the tactic of total destruction of the fortified area and the subsequent clearing of the terrain, our command has managed to reduce their number to a minimum.

10% of world’s card payments are made in Russia
Banks from the global top 150 accepted a total of 466.8bn transactions last year, up 12.1% from 2021, according to the Nilson Report company.
Interestingly, this list includes seven Russian banks: Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, Alfa Bank, Russian Standard, Tinkoff, and Promsvyazbank.
The total number of transactions processed by them totaled 47.7bn. This is up 9.6% from 2021 (43.5bn transactions processed).
Their share in the global top 150 in 2022 was 10.2%.
This indicator slightly decreased by 0.2 percentage points in 2022, as in 2021 it was about 10.4%.
So can we just take a moment and appreciate: Visa and Mastercard have left Russia in 2022 and that has affected Russian card payments in about... nothing.

@BILD obtained secret voice recordings between former Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin and current (state-owned) Progress CEO Dmitry Baranov in which they prepare and finalize a plan to crash a "civilian" carrier rocket #soyuz in #kyiv or another ukrainian city.
Röpcke says: "They are planning to place several FAB bombs on it, with a payload of 9 tons of TNT."🤨
It is a great stupidity, a Soyuz carrier rocket must cost dozens of times more than a missile, furthermore, it will not be for missiles of all types in Russia

🔹In #Kherson Direction, near #Podstepnoye (between #Peschanovka and Cossack Camps), the AFU forced the #Dnieper and advanced north of the village, and encamped. They again tried to break through to #Poyma and #Peschanovka, and after our artillery strikes, the presence of scattered groups persists. The AFU hold the outskirts of #Krynki village, receiving reinforcements. At both bridges (#Antonovsky and Railway), our artillery covers the new groups, but they find ways to infiltrate to our shore. Ours continue to target AFU facilities. At #Berislav a group with boats, a fuel depot at #Kazatskoye, accommodation centres at #Veseloye and #Predneprovskoye were blown up.
🔹In #Zaporozhye Direction, by morn, our forces gave a strong rebuff to the AFU near #Rabotino, with field reports of 2 destroyed tank and 2 AFVs. The AFU intensify the onslaught near #Verbovoye, our aviation responds with airbombs. It is said that part of the AFU reserves leave towards #Avdeyevka.
🔹In #SouthDonetsk Direction, the Vostok Battalion reports shelling of our positions, sensitive to all of our activity. Both sides seem to be in active defence.
🔹In #Donetsk Direction, our flags wave above the dominant #Slagheap hight near #Avdeyevka Coke Plant.After clearing, ours consolidate the new lines. Our forces also advanced and entrenched in the forest plantations southwest of #Krasnogorovka, approaching the railway line, a supply route to #Avdeevka. AFU counterattack attempts were repulsed north of #Mayorsk, near #Opytnoye and #Pervomayskoye.
🔹In #Bakhmut Direction, on the southern city flank, our ATGMs foiled an attack from the south of #Kleshcheyevka. On the northern flank, ours pushed the AFU back near #Berkhovka and retook positions.
🔹In #Svatovo Directions, our army counterattacks in the #Serebryanskoye forest, and attacks near #Novosyolka, #Kislovka and on the #Sinkovka - #Petropavlovka line.
