⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦⚔️ Situation in the #Soledar Direction until 14:00 on 28 Nov 2022⚡️

🩸 Intense fighting continues in the vicinity of #Bakhmut. Wagner PMC assault units and LPR units are pushing through the AFU defences in and to the south of the locality. The enemy's front line is crumbling more and more.

The situation for the AFU is critical. The 30th Mechanized Brigade alone has suffered over 150 casualties in the last two days. The wounded are not being treated and a large number of the dead have died of blood loss or septicaemia.

▪️ In fierce fighting, the settlements of #Ozaryanovka, #Zelenopolye and #Andreyevka were liberated. The defence of Ukrainian formations along the quarries has collapsed. Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces approached #Kurdyumovka and #Klescheyevka closely.

▪️ Two groups of 50 mobilised men, the 2nd Special Forces Unit of the 71st Jager Brigade and the 65th Combined Territorial Defence Battalion of the AFU have been transferred to the #Bakhmut section to reinforce the 24th Assault Battalion of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade.

▪️ Consolidated units of the 53rd Mechanized and 71st Jager Brigades attempted a counterattack near #Opytnoye. During the fighting, AFU assault groups entrenched themselves in the building of the 'Novaya Poshta' and advanced to the temple in #Opytnoye.

Wagner PMC fighters repulsed the attack. Ukrainian forces withdrew from the settlement, and lost two men killed and 13 wounded, another 20 were taken prisoner.

▪️ The AFU command is planning another counterattack attempt. Several units of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade and the Aydar Battalion of the AFU's 53rd Mechanized Brigade have arrived in #Bakhmut from #Kherson direction.

An artillery unit of the 57th Brigade has been deployed to #Kramatorsk. In the coming days, fighters of the 112th Territorial Defence Brigade from the #Kiev region will also arrive at the #Bakhmut sector.

Twelve men of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade of the AFU have arrived in the #Kleshcheyevka stronghold. South of #Bakhmut, an artillery battery of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade is deployed, consisting of three Acacia SAUs.

◽️Russian Federation Armed Forces continue the special military operation.

💥As a result of a Russian Aerospace Forces' high-precision weapons hitting on the temporary deployment locations of the so-called Foreign Legion fighters, up to 100 foreign mercenaries and six armoured vehicles were destroyed near Chasov Yar (Donetsk People's Republic).

◽️In Kupyansk direction, artillery fire against the AFU's assembly areas thwarted the enemy attack at Novoselovskoye (Lugansk People's Republic). Up to 30 Ukrainian servicemen and two pickup trucks were annihilated.

◽️In Krasny Liman direction, preventive fire damage in Stelmakhovka and Ploshchanka (Lugansk People's Republic) foiled attempts of the AFU to launch an offensive with two company tactical units in the direction of Kolomyychikha and Ploshchanka (Lugansk People's Republic).

💥The enemy also made futile attempts to equip strong positions and gain a foothold close to Ploshchanka and Chervonopopovka.
As a result of artillery fire, AFU units were halted and pushed back to their initial positions. The enemy's losses in this direction amounted to over 50 Ukrainian personnel killed and wounded. Three armoured fighting vehicles and four special vehicles were eliminated.

◽️In Donetsk direction, the AFU's counterattacks were repulsed near Soledar, Opytnoye, Kurdyumovka, and Mayorsk as a result of the Russian forces' fire defeat and decisive operations. Up to 70 Ukrainian personnel were neutralised, as well as two tanks, three armoured fighting vehicles, and five pickup trucks.

◽️In South Donetsk direction, the enemy attempted to retake the lost position in Novomikhailovka, Pavlovka, and Shevchenko (Donetsk People's Republic). Artillery strikes and assault units repulsed all of the attacks, and the enemy was forced back to the initial positions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered 60 casualties in this direction, as well as one infantry fighting vehicle, two armoured fighting vehicles, two MT-LB vehicles, and five motor vehicles.

💥Operational-Tactical and Army Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery struck six enemy command posts in Sadovoye, Dudchany, and Zolotaya Balka (Kherson region), Yampol (Donetsk People's Republic), and Kislovka (Kharkov region), as well as 62 artillery units at firing positions, manpower, and military equipment in 137 areas.An ammo depot outside Dnipropetrovsk, which stored over 100 HIMARS multiple-launch rockets and over 7,000 foreign-made large-calibre artillery rounds, was destroyed. Four missile and artillery ammunition depots of the AFU Zaporozhye force grouping have been destroyed near Razumovka (Zaporozhye region).

💥Two HIMARS MLRS rockets were shot down by air defence near Bogdanovka (Kherson region). In addition, a Excalibur artillery giuded round was intercepted near Miropolye (Sumy region).

⚡️🇺🇦🛤💡 On the Impact of Strikes on Ukraine's Energy infrastructure and on the Logistics of the AFU⚡️

With the start of massive missile strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on the 👉 energy infrastructure in Ukraine, problems with the transportation of military cargo began. The cause was power outages, complicating the operation of electric locomotives. The authorities have already promised to solve the problem by increasing the use of diesel locomotives.

But how realistic are those plans? To do so, it is necessary to analyze the state of the industry and railway transportation in the country.

▪️ In 2018, the Ukrainian traction fleet included:

➖ 1,628 mainline electric locomotives,
➖ 680 mainline diesel locomotives,
➖ 1258 shunting diesel locomotives.

All of them were not new and required repairs to varying degrees.

▪️ At the beginning of the SMO, #Ukraine owned only around 250 mainline diesel locomotives in good working order, which were also badly worn out. Now there are even fewer. Ukrainian railway workers lost diesel locomotives in #Popasna, #Nikolaev and #Pologi. during the hostilities.

▪️ A general decline in the country's economy and a drop in freight traffic, have freed up a significant portion of diesel locomotives for military needs. But even they are still insufficient to simultaneously supply the AFU, fuel supplies and grain transportation.

▪️ The situation is exacerbated by the need to use diesel locomotives for domestic passenger traffic. It is caused by stoppages of mainline electric locomotives on routes due to loss of voltage in the network after missile strikes.

▪️ If the systematic shelling continues, the unified Ukrainian energy system could collapse, effectively making it impossible to use electric locomotives. In that case, the authorities would be forced to stop passenger traffic altogether and use diesel locomotives exclusively to supply the front.

Except that even such forced measures will not be able to fully remedy the situation because of other serious problems:

🩸 Switching military supplies to diesel locomotives would severely reduce the pace and volume of freight deliveries to the front lines because of their lower average capacity compared to electric locomotives. The problem of diesel shortages will also be exacerbated.

🩸 Ukrainian railways mainly use 2TE-116, 2TE10m and 2TE10u diesel locomotives produced at the Luhansk Locomotive Plant. With the start of the SMO, the Kiev authorities have lost the ability to obtain original parts even through the earlier "grey" schemes.

🩸 The lack of a stable power supply will affect the operation of the entire railway infrastructure: road blocking, locomotive signalling and switches will not work. There will also be difficulties with repairs of locomotives.

For the time being, the Ukrainian energy system has not suffered any critical damage, which would force the authorities to completely switch military supplies to diesel locomotives. But that moment will in any case come when the missile attacks and the 👉 cumulative effect they have caused continue.

And it will indeed seriously complicate the logistics of the AFU.

By mid-day on 28 Nov, Wagner PMC, dispersed along the T-05-13 highway, managed to break the first line of the AFU defence near #Kleshcheyevka, #Ozaryanovka and #Andreyevka villages south of #Bakhmut (#Artemovsk).

Having suppressed enemy platoon strongholds, the Wagnerians and LPR units were able to advance 1.5-2 km from their previously held positions. Scattered AFU units were pushed back to the area between #Kleshcheyevka and Chasovy Yar.

The redeployed reinforcements of the 5th Mechanized Brigade and the 112th Brigade of the Territorial Defence did not improve the position of the Ukrainian army.

The next stage of the offensive is likely to be the advance of the Wagner PMCs to the village of #Ivanovka with the blocking of the H-32 highway. This will potentially eliminate the possibility of supplying the entire #Bakhmut grouping of the AFU.
