My fellow squash enthusiast,

I am pleased to announce that the inaugural MARIGOLD Singapore Squash Open 2022 tickets are now available for sale. This Professional Squash Association Gold event will bring in the top 24 men and women to Singapore, sharing equal prize money of US$110,000, competing in one of the most prestigious events on the World Tour.

The onset of COVID had given Singapore Squash the opportunity to lobby organisers from the Professional Squash Association to believe that Singapore would be a wonderful choice to host this event – the first and only in Southeast Asia. Squash has a long history in Singapore and Singapore Squash has the ability to make it a successful event.

Singapore Squash had taken the bold step to bid for this event which we believe is long overdue and would bring the entire squash fraternity together. To widen the reach to the greater community, we have also included a fan and non-fan zone, that will bring a carnival-like atmosphere within OCBC Arena, where this event will be held. We are confident that it will draw interest in non-squash players to find out more about our sport, and perhaps even start learning to play.

We believe the cost to undertake such a prestigious event is justified. But we would need the support of the whole community to come together to help us raise funds, not just for this event, which has cost us more than $1M to organise, but also for the annual activities planned by Singapore Squash. These activities allow us to fund programs that reach out to our young children in schools, underprivileged children and people with disabilities through community outreach.

The government has generously extended the One Team Singapore Fund (OTSF) which we are appreciative, allowing us to match our donations 1-1 up to $400,000. We as a charity will allow your donations, going towards ticket sales, benefit from 250% tax deductions too.

Please refer to the Annex linked for bookings details:

Warm regards,

Patrick Thio
President, SSRA

Just to illustrate, as an IPC, donations to us qualify for 250% tax relief. Depending on your annual income bracket, the actual price you pay for the ticket can be about half priced after deducting the tax savings - on top of the early bird discount.
