♟ Fixing a Lost Chess Piece with Epoxy
My daughter took chess set to school. BTW This chess has survived relocation Chelyabinsk -> Saint Petersburg -> Spain. So it was quite sentimental piece of plastic. So, I decided to try fixing it myself.
1️⃣ Made a template using epoxy
2️⃣ Covered the original pawn with oil and pressed it into the epoxy template
3️⃣ Waited until the template hardened
4️⃣ Oiled the template and put epoxy inside + added a small magnet
5️⃣ Polished and covered it with varnish
Honestly, I expected the result to look terrible. Instead it was just bad, bad with enough functionality.
Also reminder: infrastructure engineers secretly enjoy building random physical things too 🙂

🤖microbit
I've just found quite promising project for kids: https://microbit.org/
There is gui, javascript & python to have some fun with kids. They can start just from GUI and can program it. however initializating is a bit tricky

It draws current weather via ASCII animations. It's driven by real-time weather data.
