🔤Lumin house is located in the historical center of Moscow and is surrounded by dense urban development. The project concept had to solve two problems: to fill the apartments with the maximum amount of natural light and to create a secluded atmosphere in the very center of the city.

The stepped structure of the facade with "cells" - lightboxes allowed to increase the total surface area capable of transmitting light. The main materials used were clear and frosted glass. Blocks of frosted glass form the walls, while clear glass was used for the panoramic windows.

🔤The key feature of the façade are transparent #curvedglass columns that glow at night, and are decorative and not structural. Right after sunset, when there is still daylight, the columns glow at full power. As dusk settles in, the intensity gradually decreases, down to ten percent by the time of total darkness. Built-in reflectors prevent the light from shining into apartments. #nightlight

At street view, the building seems minimalist and strict... Its grandeur and symmetry seamlessly fit the building into the surrounding Stalinist environment.

🔤Oval-shaped individual offices and meeting rooms are placed surrounded by a garden that will be the Second Home for almost 700 people. Four different oval shapes create the 60 bungalow offices, that are scattered around the garden built with 4 feet of soil on top of the parking slab, burying the bungalows down to the table height. The transparent curved walls allow 360º horizontal views of the plants, giving the feeling to be working among nature.

Plants reduce the temperature and provide shade; the clear façade eliminates the necessity of artificial lighting and has 3 operable openings for natural cross-ventilation; all the water at the site is collected in two cisterns totaling 37,000 gallons of storage capacity to be used for irrigation. #sustainability

🔤The position it occupies favours its role as a driving force of the urban renewal of the area and, being located perpendicular to the highway, it avoids being a visual obstacle for the homes of Bellvitge.

The externalisation of all its vertical communication elements, as well as its installation courtyards, frees up the floor plan for maximum use and converts these elements into dynamic sculptures. Highly complex technological construction solutions, such as the dome of its Evo restaurant, cable-stayed glass atrium and suspended slabs on floors 2 and 4, add to the overall quality of the complex.
