🔤The winery is designed to merge almost invisibly with the rolling vineyards and hills of the Chianti landscape, making the building appear as part of the natural terrain rather than a separate structure. #context@simoderna

The roof of the building is planted with vines, creating a continuous landscape that blurs the boundary between architecture and the surrounding fields. #greenery@simoderna

The project was conceived as a sacred place of silence, where architectural space respects the ritual and tradition of winemaking. Natural materials such as #corten steel were used so the building harmonises with the Tuscan environment and reflects local craftsmanship.

🔤LOLA, TALLER and L+CC won the international competition for a forest and sports park in Guang Ming, Shenzhen, China. Since the opening in 2020 the forest and sports park is a destination for the people of Big Bay area. As this metropolitan region finds its success in innovative industries, the park focuses on innovation in sports and ecology.

Two R&D centers, one for sports, one for botany, are centrally located in the park. In a natural forest setting, people will be able to get to know new and forgotten sports, and the latest techniques in sports.

The elevated #red path connects the park to the city and the forest forming a scenic route crossing different types of forest.

🔤The design reinterprets the structural forms and layering of a Bauhinia bud about to blossom. Known as the Hong Kong orchid tree, the Bauhinia x blakeana was first propagated in the city’s botanic gardens above the Murray Road site and its flowering bud features on Hong Kong’s flag.

Located on the refuge floor, the Sky Garden is an outdoor recreational space with running track and an aquaponics planting network.

Designed to withstand the region’s powerful summer typhoons, the façade is comprised of 4-ply, double-laminated, double-curved insulated glass units – the first of their kind in Hong Kong. #curvedglass@simoderna

The site - which was once just a public car park - sold for a world-record 3 billion USD in 2017 to Henderson Land Development, a company owned by one of the wealthiest families in the city. #record@simoderna

🔤Reutlingen’s new landmark has opened: the “Glashaus”, a striking structure made of a timber load-bearing framework and around 28,000 glass tiles. What makes it unique is that the building is not only an architectural highlight, but also prevents one of the oldest continuous rows of half-timbered houses in southern Germany from collapsing. #heritage@simoderna

The history of the site stretches back decades. In 1972, the so-called Stone House was demolished at the same location after being deemed structurally unsound. Without this supporting structure, the adjacent half-timbered buildings gradually began to lean more dangerously over the following decades.

The roof and facade surfaces are clad with a homogeneous layer of glass “beaver-tail” tiles. Depending on the conditions of incident light the wooden trusswork behind it is more or less visible, and the building appears translucent or glittering, like a chimera. #nightlight@simoderna
