🔤The building is charged with expressive power, concentrated in the pattern that gives shape to the roof and its crowning perimeter. This power is the result of the influence of certain Central European expressionist architectures. From the outside, the building is perceived as a weightless volume in which the aluminium and glass facade – sometimes translucent, sometimes opaque – transmits expressive qualities depending on its use.

🔤Named after the tradition of the 'Tondo', a circular renaissance painting, it's shaped like a ring, and tucked between the two facades.

There is a generous walk around an enclosed outer space, which also functions as an escape and meeting space. At the same time, the ‘detour’ also allows the height difference between both buildings to be bridged by means of a single, accessible slope of 4%.

🔤OMA has designed three buildings for the three block site along Collins Avenue - an arts center, retail bazaar and car park.

The Faena Bazaar is a #refurbishment of the historic Atlantic Beach Hotel, built in 1939 and designed by prominent Miami Beach architect Roy France, whose work includes the Saxony and Versaille opposite the site. The Bazaar preserves and restores the existing lobby and facades, while reprogramming the building for retail. #heritage

🔤The complex seeks to maintain the beachy and rustic character that defines the town of José Ignacio. The challenge was creating a building within an area that still maintains the scale of an "old fishing village" while generating a 6,000m² hotel. #context

Exterior spaces are designed with vegetation, built-in, protection against the wind and against the sun. The result is a building that is camouflaged with the environment, using native vegetation in order to generate a lower visual impact. #greenery
