🔤Maximizing exposure to the Gulf and the unparalleled Dubai skyline, landscaped courts and terraces ensure that a substantial portion of the hotel rooms and residences have outdoor space, private pools, and shaded gardens. These private oases heighten guest comfort and enjoyment, amplify the shading, and direct the prevailing breezes over the water and vegetation surrounding the resort.

The terraces step down towards one another and are linked by a sky-bridge, the structure that gives Atlantis The Royal its iconic silhouette. Framing a grand gateway between the two buildings, the sky bridge is punctuated by pools, lounges, cabanas and other amenities creating a lush oasis.

🔤The crystalline tower, evoking the shape of a bag or a traditional house, is essentially a logical consequence of the complex local building regulations.

The building is located in a heterogeneous district of predominantly low-rise buildings.

"We decided early on to focus on vertical volume containing the maximum permitted gross floor area so that part of the lot acreage can remain undeveloped. This area will form a kind of plaza, comparable to the public spaces of a European city."

🔤The store is located at the Taikoo-Li Sanlitun, where luxury brands predominate (like previously shared Louis Vuitton by Jun Aoki seen on the right side of the first picture). To take advantage of its location, the façade is adorned with translucent, textured #glass fins.

With their gently curved edges, these responsibly recycled and locally manufactured fins give the façade an elegant, fluid form. In order to design this shape, MVRDV took cues from the Bone Cuff bracelet by Elsa Peretti.

At night, the naturally #teal-toned glass is illuminated in Tiffany & Co.’s iconic colour, giving the store a soft, diffuse glow. The lighting is integrated into the custom brackets holding the glass fins, minimising visible hardware and preserving the subtle light effects of the glass. #nightlight@simoderna

🔤Enveloped by this dizzying urban spectacle, is a 24.4 meter diameter two-story glass drum with a beautifully crafted conical support with a concave vertical surface that stands on its apex.

Clad in warm timber, the central support is formed of 1,461 European white oak profiles. #wood@simoderna. A carefully crafted edge detail on each slat allows air to be extracted out through the central structure with an absorptive acoustic backing layer.

The fully glazed drum surrounding both floors provides dramatic 360-degree views, juxtaposing the intense urbanism with the quiet greenery of the new landscape.
