This complexity, arising from the accumulation of simple elements, resonates with a traditional construction technique widely used in the Han Dynasty known as tícòu (题凑). The term tí refers to the ends of wooden beams, while còu describes the method of their arrangement. This method embodies a connection with Qin–Han culture, and the #black and #red colors used are those revered in the Han period.
In terms of color, the building demonstrates regional distinctiveness—its red edges and corners stand out among the high-rises, offering people a sense of orientation and belonging.
In addition, the red components form part of the building’s ventilation system, while the black components contain water that acts as a coolant. Together they create an external ecological energy-saving system. #sustainability

The center’s #white structures made of #GFRC take on futuristic forms, featuring ribbon-like undulations both inside and out that reflect the pedestrian pathways that weave through the campus, not to mention the walking trails on the adjacent Festival Island.
These three civic institutions are uniquely defined and separate, yet complement each other with different opening times creating vitality throughout the day and evening. The theatre becomes active as the art museum begins to conclude its day-time operations, whilst the variety of events in the smaller theatre ensures it will be used at all times.

Richard Rogers Partnership proposed a building where the dealing room could expand or contract, according to the needs of the market, by means of a series of galleries around a central space. To maximise space, services are banished to the perimeter.
This is similar to the Centre Pompidou, which Rogers completed with Renzo Piano in the late 1970s, and has equally uncluttered and highly flexible internal spaces.
As a result, Lloyd’s became a complex grouping of towers, almost Gothic in feeling – an effect enhanced by the height of the external plant-room towers.

It is supported within a #orange structure that is both brightly highlighted and placed outside like many of the seminal buildings by Richard Rogers including the Millennium Dome and Centre Pompidou.
The gallery soars out into the canopy of the trees to ‘capture the view’ of the mountains of the Luberon. In contrast to the neutral gallery space, the legibility of the external #steel structure is enhanced by its bold color, specifically chosen both to compliment, but also contrast with the surrounding seasonal landscape.
Elegantly nestled among trees, it is a fitting addition to Château La Coste’s Architectural & Art Walk, joining a pantheon of structures designed by legendary architects like Renzo Piano, Tadao Ando, Jean Nouvel, Kengo Kuma and Frank Gehry.

Each half of the building is serviced by its own core so that the two sides basically operate as independent towers, belted together by steel trusses and skybridges ringing them into a stable structural unit. Each side is designed with a glazed interior facade, facing its twin opposite.
The atrium brings natural light deep within the building, acting as a thermal chimney with an integrated ventilation system that maintains positive pressure at low level to limit air ingress and provides an effective clean air filtration process within the tower’s internal environment.
