🔤It was envisioned to revitalize the city of Maebashi by transforming a former parking lot into a community hub. The design draws inspiration from the circular villages of the Jōmon period, aiming to integrate living spaces and create a welcoming plaza open to all.

The innovative concept involves residential buildings above a plaza with shops and a courtyard below, giving the impression of a single tree. By incorporating diagonal walls, the design seeks to connect spacious interiors with green gardens, fostering a sense of harmony with nature. #greenery

🔤The cantilevering roof with its large mobile wings and the facade structure expand almost the full length of the pier emphasising the extension into the Guanabara Bay, while minimising the building's width. #cantilever

The building will operate by making use of the natural resources from the site itself; water from the nearby bay for air-conditioning the inside temperature, as well as solar energy collected through photovoltaic panels, integrated into the operable wing elements of the roof, that can dynamically adjust to the optimum angle of the sun. #kinetic #sustainability

A reflection pool surrounding the building on the outside—used to filter water that is being pumped from the bay and released back in from the end of the pier— gives visitors the impression that the museum is floating.

Respecting and complementing the neighbouring historic landmarks, such as the Mosteiro de São Bento do Rio de Janeiro, the Museum envelope is limited to a height of 18 m above the pier level.

🔤People in Taiwan have devised various intermediary areas that go well with hot and humid climates in their lives. You can skillfully exploit the simple places on the extension of the road throughout the city and you can see the people enjoying meals and conversation.

So we selected not the tower on the reference floor plans but the shape to set back while diagonally limiting the limits so that all the dwellings could have a large terrace.

The wind flowing through the city will spread throughout the unevenness surface dispersal and softly, due to enhance the comfort of the terrace. It also minimizes the occurrence of “building wind”.

🔤The store is located between the Suwon Gwanggyo Lake Park and ubiquitous buildings in the city: an intersection between nature and the urban environment. The store has a textured mosaic stone façade that evokes nature of the neighbouring park.

A public route is excavated from the stone volume and connects the public side walk to a roof garden—including both retail and cultural activities.

The public route has a multifaceted glass façade that contrasts with the opacity of the stone. Through the glass, retail and cultural activities inside are revealed to the city’s passers-by, while visitors in the interior acquire new vantage points to experience Gwanggyo.

🔤It is located in an “L” shape wing of the Lisboa Mercado da Ribeira, a popular landmark built in 1882. The only real idea behind this project is to preserve the character and main features of this space while adapting it to a workspace. #heritage #refurbishment

The building character is defined by a large open space flaked by column shaped iron windows and beautiful iron-cast trusses in the roof. "We preserved all of them and kept the inherited idea of one single open space, making small companies to share a huge table (70x10 meters) divided in three, encouraging the relationship and communication between them.

We were able to eliminate the air conditioning system and create a radiant floor for cooling and heating in complement with natural ventilation controlled with motors and parts taken from the conventional green house systems. And perhaps that is where we took the inspiration from to give privacy and good air quality placing 1,000 plants on top of that big table." #greenery
