Get Ready to Rumble in the 2021 Continental Prelims! | The Silph Arena
Get ready to rumble, the 2021 Continental Preliminary Rounds is almost here! Talented competitors from all over the world will battle it out to represent their regions and prove their mettle.
🔥 Get Ready for Factions Season 1 🔥
The Factions Preseason has come to a close after 2 exciting Cycles! The Preseason was filled with incredible teamwork and competition, but the party is just getting started.
🏆 Continuing to the Regular Season
The regular Season will feature 3 Cycles, each containing 7 bouts. Factions will be split into tiers based on their Preseason performance and compete against the other Factions within their tier. At the end of each Cycle, the top performing Factions in each tier will have the chance to be promoted to the next highest tier!
The sign up process will be slightly different from the Preseason:
1️⃣ Owners click the button on their Factions page to sign up by July 30th.
2️⃣ The Arena will sort all Factions into their tiers and notify owners by August 2nd.
3️⃣ Factions RSVP to their specific Cycle and tier by August 9th.
4️⃣ Bout 1 begins on August 10th!
The sign-up button will be up this weekend - we'll let everyone know when it's ready!
👊 Updates to Bouts
The weekly bout schedule has been updated for Season 1:
- Monday: Break Day!
- Tuesday: Set your Positions
- Wednesday: Set your Battle Teams
- Thursday-Sunday: Battle!
📊 Factions Tiers
Factions will be organized into different tiers based on their skill level. There will be a maximum of 7 tiers in each region, based on the number of competing Factions.
The upper tiers - Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze - will have 8 Factions each and use a Round Robin style bracket. At the end of the Cycle, the top 2 Factions in each tier will be automatically promoted to the next tier, while the bottom 2 will be relegated down. The 3rd place Faction will battle the 6th place of the tier above them. If they win, they're promoted. If not, they stay in the same tier.
The Open and Qualifying Tiers will each be made up of 50% of the remaining Factions. At the end of the Cycle, the top 3 Open Tier Factions will be promoted to Bronze (and the bottom 3 Bronze moved to Open). In addition, the top half the Qualifying Tier will be promoted to Open, with the bottom half of Open relegated to Qualifying.

The 16 Challengers have been split into groups of 4 for a Round Robin style bracket and are competing for their spot in the Finals. The winner of each group will advance to the Double Elimination Finals on Sunday, 9/12, where they will face the Continental Champions for their shot at the Championship crown!

4 Continental Challengers have emerged victorious from the Preliminary Rounds, but they still have one more summit to climb! On Sunday, September 12th, they will join the 2021 Continental Champions in a double-elimination bracket for the World Championship Finals!
The meta for the Finals is a unique format, never seen before in the Arena. Unlike normal formats, where competitors bring 6 Pokémon as their Battle Team, the Finalists will build a team consisting of 8 Pokémon. Their opponent each will select 2 of those Pokémon to ban from battle, leaving 6 Pokémon to choose from.
