Never say LEFT and RIGHT when guiding your model during the remote shoot. Here's why and what to say instead 👇

“Left” and “right” create confusion fast: Whose left? Your screen’s left? Their left facing you or the camera?
It can sloww down the shoot a lot! Why would anyone need it?

So, what to do? We'd suggest to use landmarks instead: “Turn the phone toward the tree”, “Face the door side”, “Step back toward the wall”. These things you use in directing are visible and easy to follow.

When you help with posing, inctead of saying “turn your right side to me”, say “turn toward the window” or “face the bookshelf”. We hope you get the idea?

Use what they can see — not what’s in your head.

Same with body parts. It's better to say “lift the hand with the watch” or “move the leg closest to the plant”. Find details in their space to guide your model naturally.

The trick is to anchor your directions in what your model can see and feel around them. It reduces mistakes and can help to make the process more comfortable and understandable)

Let your remote shoot be nice and comfortable with great images as a result!

We didn't count how many times we received this question about which camera is best to shoot with, but it's been a lot! So, does it really matter if you use the front, back, tele, or any other camera on your model's phone?

Short answer – yes, it does!

We recommend using the primary (rear) camera, it's the one that automatically turns on when you start the remote shoot. Most of the time, it’s the best one in terms of quality.

If your model’s phone has multiple cameras on the back, feel free to switch between them and try them out! Just keep in mind that the quality might vary a bit and it really depends on the phone.

Best thing to do? Test it out with a quick trial shoot so you can see which one gives you the best results 🙌

What do you think and what's your take on this question?

Which would stop the remote shoot first:
20% battery or only enough memory for 200 more shots (model's phone)? 😄

While Amazon has been experiencing issues that affect many services, including those used by photographers to create galleries, The Shutter Studio galleries are working as usual, as well as remote sessions 😎

btw, maybe that helps - we learned that the wording really matters. Our app in terms of how it interacts with the user is absolutely like Google Meet, Zoom, WhatsApp, etc; So usually no concerns from them when we say "video call". But if we accidentally say "this app allows the photographer to control your phone/camera" - then here we go

Hey community!

Lemme share some recent updates:
🗑️ Trash. Now when you delete a shoot, it goes there. And sits there for 30 days! So if you "accidentally" deleted a shoot – you can navigate to "Trash" and restore it

⚠️ We added a notification when your account exceeds your plan's storage limit. (Historically, we never tried to enforce this limit – to not accidentally block your shoot or project)

🧹 To help all of us to keep accounts clean and not spend much time on housekeeping, if you are out of storage – the system will automatically 🗑️ the *oldest* shoots. Still, 30 days to restore some of them, if needed

Hey! We’ve just updated the Galleries with the albums! 🎉

Now you can easily share photos with your models and clients by creating galleries for them and use album feature to create different folders inside the gallery. Feel free to give it a try!

Hey, it’s Sveta! Have you tried the galleries yet? I’ve personally been using them for all of my recent shoots.

Honestly, I’m so happy to have moved from the services I used before to Shutter Galleries.

We’ve been working on adding more and more features, so it’s constantly getting better. Feel free to to try it out to share the photos with your models and clients!
