JS Tech Rec: How I’m maximizing my iPhone 17 Pro Max purchase
After a couple years of hold out, I’m finally upgrading my iPhone. As this is a relatively large purchase, of course I’ll want to optimise the miles we’re earning.
The biggest difficulty is the limited spending caps on the credit cards we have. Most of them top out at S$1,000/month which is lower than the cost of an iPhone.
I would prefer to purchase the iPhone through KrisShop to earn an additional 2.5 mpd based on my KrisShopper tier. However, as of today, there’s still no news of iPhone pre-order on KrisShop.
Currently, my strategy is to purchase it through Courts, using a mix of HeyMax vouchers (additional 0.5 mpd) and Atome to break up the purchase.
I’ll split up the purchase across the Citi Rewards, HSBC Revolution and DBS Woman’s World Mastercard.

HSBC just announced that there’ll no longer be any cashback awarded for all GIRO Payments from 1 Nov 2025.
This includes GIRO payments for credit card bills where previously, you could earn an additional cash back of 0.5% on top of your credit card rewards.
This means your Oct bill payments will likely be your last to be awarded the extra cash back. It was great while it lasted. Here’s the new T&Cs.
