A war has broken out between authorities and drug cartels in Brazil – at least 80 people, including civilians, have been killed within an hour, according to media reports.
Rio de Janeiro is paralyzed: roads are blocked with barricades and hijacked buses. Security forces have deployed 2,500 troops against the gangs. The cartels, which control up to 70% of the drug trade, have declared a lockdown in response to the large-scale police operation.
In the northern part of the city, chaos reigns – gunfire, burning cars, and residents afraid to leave their homes. The cartels are using FPV drones to blockade neighborhoods.
