Since 6AM this morning about 60 climate protectors of the "No (S)hell on Earth" action group have installed multiple blockades at the Shell refinery in Wesseling, near Cologne!✊
The activists have kayaks, tripods and lockons. Multiple police units have arrived to the area to evict the blockades, so the capitalists can continue to destroy our beautiful planet without being disturbed. 🤬
The action is part of the decentralised action days #AufstandMitAbstand ("resistance with distance").
The activists are extending solidarity with the #Ogoni people in the #NigerDelta & with #Syndikat in Berlin, which is facing eviction today. ✊

Fossil fuels and fossil companies have got to go! More and more people see the truth in this and the message is backed by the latest IPCC report which conclusively demonstrates that we are already in the middle of a climate emergency and drastic measures are needed! Companies like Shell are attacked from all sides and the call for fair climate policies is getting louder. But we are not there yet. In the coming period we will have to put in all the energy we have to force change and push Shell over the edge for good: Shell Must Fall!

IT'S THE END OF ROYAL DUTCH SHELL (as we know it)
Shell flees the Netherlands, but on this planet there is nowhere to run from climate justice.
Shell's CEO Ben van Beurden announced today that he will flee the Netherlands and move to the UK. Presented as a "simplification" of its structure, this move will primarily help the directors to evade taxes. Moving the company will not lower it's emmisions, not clean up the Niger Delta or repair the damage done in Groningen and countless other places. For that Shell, "Royal Dutch" or not, should be dismantled.
Shell Must Fall will continue as planned with organizing a Shell Must Fall Action Conference on the 27th of November in the Netherlands. Wherever Shell is hiding, we will fight it. Shell will likely try and succeed to evade a corporate 'exit tax' and set a precedent for other rogue companies wishing to avoid legal consequences. Now, in a free global market, one can set up shop wherever they want of course. Especially if you're going through a major identity crisis, changing your name and your scenery is supposed to do you good. But one wonders; after everything that the Dutch state has done for the company, after decades of favours and pampering, is this how Shell expresses their appreciation? Other states should take note: getting too intimate with fossil fuel sector is a one-sided love story, never reciprocal, always extractivist.

Ever since, climate breakdown has been escalating, a global pandemic has further exacerbated the existing crises of hunger and poverty, and Shell has done anything but become the green and social company it sometimes pretends to be. But we are still here! And #ShellMustFall is more relevant than ever: the world can't afford corporations like Shell anymore!
🗓 On 8-9 January 2022 we will get together for an online conference to discuss and exchange strategies in suing, dismantling, nationalizing, expropriating and splitting up Shell and other corporations. We will talk with communities and organizations from around the world to form new alliances, plan actions, and imagine a future beyond fossil capitalism. There will be opportunities to learn more about #ShellMustFall and other campaigns, getting to know new comrades and conspirators, and to simply hang out.
