Scientists should always be encouraged and permitted to challenge the consensus. That's the only way to determine if the consensus is wrong β€” and it often is. The goal must never be to ensure a politically expedient consensus goes unchallenged.

Isn’t it the worst when your kids resist being ruined?

We need Libs of TikTok on site at Twitter headquarters live-streaming the scene.

They aren’t afraid of being silenced. They’re afraid of being challenged.

If it's not the public square, then what's the big deal?

Please do not come to my office with packages for Elon Musk. He’s not here.

Fake news. We have not deleted the tweet and our account is still locked.

The people who have assured us they aren't censoring anyone are incredibly distraught to learn they won't be able to censor anyone.

Yesterday we heard a lot about "equitable speech" and "algorithmic justice" from people who hate freedom (and think you're stupid).

It’s getting harder to groom kids and censor opposing views. What are Democrats supposed to do now?

His choice to not listen to you has no effect on your ability to speak freely and be heard by others.

Twitter launched with a promise to be a platform where everyone can freely express themselves. They became wildly successful on the back of that promise, and their mission statement still echoes it. But they've taken a wrong turn.

In the names of progress and safety, they've increasingly engaged in politically motivated viewpoint discrimination. They call it "content moderation." The end result is blatant, widespread, systematic suppression of unacceptable facts and opinions.

This wouldn't be a major problem if Twitter were a small platform with limited influence, but it's a primary platform for public discourse. It's where prominent public figures and government officials share their views, with both each other and the world. It's the town square.

Elon Musk understands both the significance of the platform and the way in which it's veered off course. From what I can tell, he simply wants to take Twitter back to its original intent, to the promise they've lost sight of. And that's a good thing.

C.S. Lewis said if you're on the wrong road, progress means turning around and going back to find the right one. The man who turns back soonest is thus the most progressive. Musk is the progressive here, not the ever-advancing Leftists who keep heading in the wrong direction.

Objecting to Twitter becoming politically neutral is to admit that it isn’t.

This is the best explanation for the uptick in followers for large conservative accounts. People who'd left Twitter are returning in droves. And people who'd never joined are checking it out. I don't see any reason to think it has to do with the lifting of shadow bans.
