If moral progress is possible, then morality can't just be a social construct. Progress entails that some values are better than others. If morality were just a social construct—and not an objective feature of reality—then we'd have moral differences, but never improvements.

The objective moral standard cannot be improved, but your adherence to it can.

To say that one culture's morality is, in fact, better than another is to compare both of them to an objective standard that transcends them both. If such a standard exists, then God exists and morality is not a social construct but a bedrock fact of reality.
