3. Egg Shells
Filled with calcium carbonate (which is a fancy name for lime), egg shells are great for adding to the soil for plants like spinach, asparagus, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, kale, leeks and peas. Just rinse them out then crush them around these plants.

Am reposting my own post....get books on veg/fruit gardening and self sufficiency because the internet could fail or be affected for some reason...Also it's lovely to have a book to refer to and I have seen this book in the library and really liked it.
