There’s this shyness I’ve grown up with, shaped by our society and culture — this feeling that saying you’re good at something, or that you know something well, comes off as ego. It’s like admitting you don’t know anything makes you seem more humble or like a better person.

I don’t know if this is something common in developing countries, but I’ve noticed it in some African and Asian cultures too.

Why does it feel wrong to say you’re good at something out loud? Why does it feel like you’re bragging, exaggerating, or being arrogant? Why do we feel the need to start every sentence with, “I’m not hyping myself, but…”?

One of the hardest (but most important) lessons in life is that not everyone wants to change. Even if someone’s clearly unhappy or stuck, the familiar feels safe…and change can feel scary or just too overwhelming.

We’ve got another awesome movie recommendation from @found_this. If you liked #Whiplash, you’re going to love this one too—I really enjoyed it. Looking for something to watch this weekend? This is it.

I'm not gonna start building everything from scratch—I've already built a SaaS boilerplate so I can move faster and test ideas quickly. This boilerplate is a lightweight version of the ULTIMATE Boilerplate I started a few days ago.

built with Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma, tRPC, Better-Auth, Tailwind, shadcn/ui, Polar.sh, AI SDK, and PostgreSQL. Finally, I'll deploy it on a VPS using Coolify.
