When I build a company:

1. I’ll immediately fire any bureaucrat and gatekeeper who lacks a deep passion for the role, learning, and growth.

2. I’ll make sure every employee feels like the product and company are their own.

3. I only want people who truly care about the product. I’ll actively hunt down the bureaucrats — no mercy on this, for real. That doesn’t mean there won’t be rules, tho

If you’re in university, read this.

Don’t let sitting in classrooms and the whole school setup trick you into thinking it’s just like high school — it’s not. You’re getting older, probably in your 20s. It’s time to start taking responsibility and thinking about your future, your current and future family.

I’m honestly surprised by students who still act like they’re “young” just because they’re in uni. This is some real brotherly advice — something I think everyone should hear.

(No offense intended… but if it does offend you, take it as tough love.)

I bought my potato PC last year.
Yeah, probably more recently than most of you think.

Before that, I used to go to the 6kilo Digital Lab just to use a computer. Sometimes it was packed, so I had to show up early. Couldn’t even leave for lunch — I’d lose my seat. I was obsessed with making progress. Ask my dorm mates — they’d probably say I was going crazy.

One thing I’ve learned: know what God gave you as a gift. For me, it’s hard work. I can grind all day like a dog and still feel like I didn’t do enough. (Honestly, that’s how I think everyone should feel — like there's always more to do.)

I knew people back then who had laptops, and I kept telling them to start learning programming — most didn’t. Some of them even DM me now asking for help.

Since I told you earlier not to think you're “too young” in uni, let me add this:
Don’t take what you have for granted. Be thankful.

Let’s talk about dating (spicy, right? 😁).

Stop dating just for fun.
Take some real time for yourself — get to know who you are, and build a real connection with God before letting someone into your heart (or whatever space you’ve prepared for them 😁).

Try asking one of those “used-to-be all-night flirters” how they feel about it now. Are they proud of it as they grow older? Would you be?

This is real life, not high school.

One reason I say uni feels like high school for some people is because I see dudes spending half their night texting girls they’ll stop talking to in two weeks. Come on now...

Again — take responsibility, guys.

@selfmadecoder
I’ll be back in an hour. If you’re still up, you’ll get to hear some of my raw, fresh thoughts 😁

Peer pressure is real. You’ve got to learn to set boundaries — especially now.
People will say, “boundaries are for old folks,” but that’s false. The life you’re building today will shape your future and affect the people around you.

Be conscious of who you let close.
Be picky — that’s not ego, that’s self-respect.

If someone’s moving in the opposite direction of who you want to be — especially if they have no ambition — I’ve got nothing but the Gospel for them. That’s it.

And please, don’t befriend people just to avoid being alone. That’s worse than being alone.
If you want solid friends, be the kind of person you’d want to have in your life.

When giving excuses becomes the norm in your head, you'll find an excuse for your incompetence instead of admitting it and trying to improve.
I wish I could tell y’all to hit the gym — but I’m not even going myself (yet).
I need to tho. At this point, it’s not even an option it's a necessity.

Finally watch this movie.

Movie name: Whiplash — I’ll drop it in the comments.

Rant over. Sorry if I yapped too much, just couldn’t leave without saying this.

Just took my early days photo — in case I get famous one day and someone wants to dig up an "origin story" for their blog. Gotta give the internet something to work with, right?

Normalize hacker houses 🤓

@selfmadecoder
Be me.

- Got registered for the ETEX hackathon.
- Got the email, joined the meeting, opened the hackathon website.
- Chose "Military and Security" as the problem statement—thought I’d build some cool stuff.
- Quit the hackathon 5 minutes later after realizing it was basically a CTF.

I don’t know who else got fooled like I did. But a hackathon is very different from a CTF, wegen.. A hackathon to a hacker is like a car to a carpenter.

Apparently, I couldn’t find any good LLM that tells good jokes…
