it takes a while to load because there are so many images so make sure to wait for it
So now OpenAI is trying to make our DeepSeek experience the worst by DDoSing DeepSeek servers, huh? 🤔 I mean, I can't say they wouldn't do this, especially since the market is falling them. In the meantime, I'm gonna try running DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen locally (the 7B version). It's around 4.7GB, so my PC is going to have a hard time handling it 😁. This is just for experiment, I’m not planning to use it on a regular basis or anything like that. 😁

well seems like i have to wait an hour for it to finish downloading

My next side project will still focus on WebSockets. I'm planning to build an Excalidraw-like application and make it interactive, allowing two users to collaboratively control everything on the board. They will be able to see changes in real time, similar…
I’m using Turborepo to build this project, and I’m keeping the backend server separate from the WebSocket server. Instead of using Socket.io, I’m going with WebSockets library ( ws ) . This way, my HTTP backend handles authentication and all the non-real-time stuff, while the WebSocket server takes care of anything that needs to happen in real-time.

For the database, I’m using PostgreSQL with Prisma as the ORM. The app will let users create study rooms where they can join and mess around with an Excalidraw-like interface (basically a collaborative whiteboard).

This project’s gonna help me get a deeper understanding of Turborepo, WebSockets, Canvas (which I’ve been avoiding for a while), and some browser physics, since I need to track real-time interactions.

Just trying to design the simple architecture of the app .. all the browsers will be connected to the socket server for the shape creation and moment .. and the HTTP backend for the auth , and also crud functionalities

not sure if its the right one but we'll see

Gonna commit into learning and building a Flutter app this week 😁. It’s for a job interview, and they wanna see how fast I can pick stuff up, build, and deliver. Shouldn’t be too crazy, but we’ll see how it goes!

@selfmadecoder
Were you that kid who always mixed up B and D? 😂 I wasn’t, but I definitely knew some legends who couldn’t tell them apart. Good times!

@selfmadecoder
Let the day begin! 😊 So much to do and learn, hope it's the same for you too. 👌

Thanks to Tele, we couldn’t download the model. But I noticed something weird—whenever I start downloading the model using Ollama, the internet just dies, not just for me but for everyone in the house, PCs, phones, everything. 😁

I tested it like 3-4 times, and every single time, everyone in the house started complaining about the internet. The moment I stopped the download, they’d be like, ‘Yup, it’s back.’

Am I missing something here, or is this just how it works? 😁

@selfmadecoder
So, back to PC ROT 😁… Downloading Android Studio for building Flutter apps. Not sure how my PC will respond, but last time I tried, it didn’t go well 🤦‍♂️

Aight time to get started ⚡️

@selfmadecoder
Honestly, Flutter UI is way easier than I imagined. I used to think the way you write widgets is kind of messy and hard to read, but it’s only until you get the hang of it, I guess.

@selfmadecoder
Can someone give me a unique app idea to build with Flutter? I want something intermediate that will keep me accountable and help me learn as quickly as possible. 😁

@selfmadecoder
Starting the day, and here’s what’s on my VSCode tracker. I was using Nvim earlier, so it only shows 28 minutes for Dart. But today’s all about Flutter and Dart—hoping to finish the assignment app by today or tomorrow while keeping up with my other stuff. Honestly, this whole thing has me curious about Flutter, so I guess this is the start of my journey as a Flutter dev. 😊

Okay, so I just found out about Interestly going live, and it looks pretty cool!

A friend of mine, @RafaelTadesse, is launching it, it’s a platform where you get matched randomly with someone who shares the same interests as you. Think Omegle, but with people who actually align with you for meaningful conversations.

They’re doing an exclusive first look on Saturday, Feb 1, at 8:30 PM. Thought I’d share in case anyone wants to check it out with me!
Here’s the link if you’re curious🔥
