Hi everyone I have been discussing to organize dev meetup version 3 with the organizers, who is up for it? 😁

so looking back our last event, it was really amazing and I hope everyone had a great time what really made it special was the hard work of all the organizers, especially in managing sponsorships and we are happy the outcome was great.

but this time we all are quite busy and tbh, since we hassled too much last time we’re hoping to avoid handling sponsorships ourselves this time, we all have a lot on our plate

so me and other organizers are thinking to make it a half day event, but if there is anyone here who would like to sponsor or can help secure sponsorships to make the event happen we’d love to have you so feel free to comment here, we might also need some volunteers if it is even a half day event so let us know here

I can't stand my laptop screen . it has this weird layer, like a plastic film or sth, and the colors are way off. It looks so strange, especially when I'm designing or coding. The difference is huge when I send my work to someone else. it doesn’t even come close to how it should look. Might be time to get a monitor or change this one.

Grok isn’t trash—you just need to find the right way to use it. It’s been super helpful lately for finding tweets, asking for context, and summarizing threads. Honestly, I’m a big fan of it at this point! 🔥

Woke up late today, but let's get started! Planning 2-3 study/work sessions of around four hours each. I found an awesome site called crackboard.dev—a VSCode and Neovim extension that tracks coding time, languages, and ranks you based on activity.

I'm currently ranked #267 and aiming for the top 20-30 today. Let’s go harder tomorrow! Join the challenge if you're up for it! 🔥

📊 *CBE Transaction Analysis Dashboard*

I've created a tool to analyze CBE transactions using SMS messages! Here's what it can do:

I am surprised by how much my spending is and welahi it is crazy how insightful it is so i wanted to share it with you.

*Features*:

• View monthly income/expenses
• Track spending by category
• See top receivers/senders
• Analyze transaction patterns
• Interactive charts and filters

📱 *How to Use*:

1. Export your CBE SMS:
• Install SMS Backup & Restore from Play Store
• Export your messages to JSON
• Rename file to sms-file.json

2. Setup the tool:
• Install Python & required packages:

pip install httpx pypdf pandas matplotlib seaborn

• Install Node.js & pnpm
• Clone the repo: https://github.com/chapimenge3/cbe-expense-analyser

3. Run it:
• Put sms-file.json in same folder as main.py
• Run: python main.py
• Install dependencies: pnpm install
• Start server: pnpm run dev
• Open: http://localhost:3000

⚠️ *Important Notes*:
• Needs Ethiopian IP address for PDF parsing
• Works for transactions from Oct 2024
• You can modify the date in the code

🔍 *Pro Tip*: Keep your categories consistent in category.json for better insights!

💡 Want to try it? Check out the full repo with installation guide: https://github.com/chapimenge3/cbe-expense-analyser

I saw this extension on Twitter, and man, it's really interesting! 😁 So, I can avoid distractions by hiding all my YouTube feed videos, right? That way, I can search only for what I need and stay productive! 🔥
