Congratulations to #Toncoin for reaching a remarkable 106,000+ TPS on their performance test.

Blockchain technology has evolved significantly since Bitcoin's initial release.

Selendra is motivated to put in the effort and play a role in the progress of the industry as a whole.

Selendra doesn't aim to be the fastest network but strives to contribute to enterprise and developer onboarding, fostering interoperability with other networks, and supporting both Wasm and EVM contracts.

Since 2018, we began on a journey to create a digital school platform, now known as Weteka.

Recently, Weteka collaborated with MoEYS to launch SalaDigital. Currently, we have uploaded 600+ book titles, hundreds of schools created by users, and have 2,600+ users, including both students and teachers. While the data is still somewhat messy, we are actively working to organize it as we progress.

Due to the nature of this partnership, we anticipate a significant influx of users in the upcoming school year of 2024, primarily high school and junior high school students. In response, the Weteka Team is developing a Digital ID that combines OAuth2-based Single Sign-On (SSO) with Selendra-based Web3 authentication. This will enable accounts created on Weteka to serve as wallets, holding digital assets across both web2 and web3.

We are excited about the possibility of introducing these users to the web3 environment from their early day, without the need to understand the intricacies of Blockchain, similar to how people use social media today without necessarily comprehending the workings of the Internet.

Of course, we still hope that some users will delve deeper to comprehend what lies behind the scenes. When they do, we aim to have resources readily available for them to educate themselves. Our aspiration is for some of them to become researchers, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and explorers—a continuation of KOOMPI's core mission from its inception to the future.

Deploy Solidity Smart Contract on Selendra EVM

Now you can deploy a Solidity Smart Contract onto the Selendra EVM at remix.selendra.org. You will be guided through setting up a Metamask wallet and adding the Selendra Network to it. This Solidity contract could be any contract that runs on Ethereum, would run on Selendra.

Prerequisites:

You will need SEL tokens to pay for gas fees, which must be paid in SEL EVM. If you have SEL on portal.selendra.org, you need to convert your EVM address (starting with

0xe02593…7463a

) to a Selendra Wasm address using

hoonsubin.github.io/evm-substrate-address-converter/

Steps:

1. Set up a Metamask wallet and add the Selendra Network to it.
2. Obtain SEL tokens to pay for gas fees.
3. Convert your EVM address to a Selendra Wasm address using

hoonsubin.github.io/evm-substrate-address-converter/.

4. Transfer SEL tokens from portal.selendra.org to your newly converted Substrate address.
5. Wait a few seconds for the SEL tokens to appear in your Metamask wallet.
6. Write your contract or generate your contract from the Remix template.
7. Deploy your Solidity Smart Contract onto the Selendra EVM at https://remix.selendra.org.

Hope you are well. Here is a periodical update on Selendra’s development.

Chain Optimization:

Since the last upgrade, the network has run over 4 million blocks (484+ days) without any downtime. We now aim to optimize the network further. We're working to reduce the native chain from 6 seconds to 1 second. This is our second attempt. The first attempt was promising, but we encountered an issue due to a consensus issue we chose, resulting in a block not being produced after block 2 million. If this attempt is successful, Selendra will become a much faster network.

The optimization chain will include Account Abstraction (AA), maintaining support for both EVM and Wasm smart contracts. Wasm introduces enhanced privacy. AA will improve UX (user experience) and simplify adoption.

Interoperable:

After the optimization is successful, Selendra will add another layer of security by becoming a Layer-2 on Ethereum Network. The byproduct of this upgrade will make Selendra more interoperable with other networks.

Strategy for use-cases and users:

Selendra's current focus is to become the backbone of loyalty rewards, tokenization, and exchanges. Businesses and brands can use Selendra’s smart contracts to mint and manage their loyalty programs. The contract listens to their business logic to mint, transfer, and burn loyalty points, tokens, or credit.

Later, if businesses want their users to exchange the loyalty points with other businesses' loyalty points, they can easily do so because it is on the same standard.

If they don’t trust the Selendra network, they could run a full copy of the Selendra node themselves, which also adds more security to Selendra.

Value

We believe that a network becomes valuable only when it is useful and gains enough users base. Supporting businesses and brands in interoperability and liquidity of loyalty points increases the usefulness of the Selendra network and attracts users. Businesses supported by Selendra contribute to its user base, boosting its industry value and attractiveness.

Selendra Chain Upgrade Announcement

Dear Selendra Community,

We are excited to announce a major upgrade to the Selendra Network that brings significant improvements to performance, consensus mechanism, and tokenomics. These changes are designed to enhance the network's efficiency, security, and economic model. Here's what you need to know:

1. Performance Boost: 6s to 1s Block Time

We've successfully reduced the blockchain time from 6 seconds to 1 second per block. This sixfold increase in speed will result in faster transaction confirmations and improved overall network responsiveness.

2. Consensus

We've shifted from the GRANDPA consensus to a DAG-based consensus mechanism we call SelendraBFT, powered by AlephBFT. This upgrade brings enhanced security and efficiency to the network's consensus process.

3. Tokenomics Revamp

Our tokenomics model has been updated to better balance network growth with token value:

- Implemented a flat inflation rate of 21 million SEL per year to reward Validators and Stakers.
- Introduced a deflationary mechanism through fee burns: 70% of all collected fees will be burned.
- This model is designed to distribute rewards more evenly as the network grows, while also controlling token supply through increased burning as usage increases.

4. Staking and Wallet Updates

- Staking UI updates are still in progress. In the meantime, you can use Polkadot.js or Subwallet browser extensions to manage your staking activities.

- To stake:
1. Import your account using either Polkadot.js or Subwallet browser extension.
2. Refresh the Selendra portal page.
3. Navigate to Network > Staking > Accounts.
4. Look for the "+Nominator" option and follow the on-screen instructions.

Cross-chain synthetic asset protocol Linear Finance has announced that it will cease operations due to prolonged financial difficulties. The Linear Finance team stated that its operations team will soon contact users to provide a timeline and instructions for liquidating active positions on its dApps. — link

Linear Finance said that Binance recently announced that it would delist the LINA token, causing its market value to shrink by 65%. The core stakeholders have collectively decided to liquidate and exit their positions.

This is the precise reason we didn't pursue to list Selendra's SEL token on any exchange before a clear use case.
