A Solana protocol Cardinal, which successfully completed a $4.4 million seed round of financing in July 2022, recently announced its gradual closure. The project is led by Solana Ventures and Protagonist, with the participation of Animoca Brands and other contributors. link

It is disheartening to witness the closure or disappearance of numerous projects that have raised substantial funding. Such occurrences evoke a deep sense of sadness within me.

Amidst these challenges, I take immense pride in the determination and resilience of our small team at Selendra. Despite our limited resources, we persistently work towards the development of Selendra software, tools, and its network. It fills me with great pride to be part of a team that relentlessly fights for a vision they believe in, with each member giving their utmost dedication.

From Trends to Substance: A Path to Lasting Progress and Mass Adoption

In the last few years, we have seen countless times that projects with big VC funding become overnight successes, not necessarily because they solve real business cases, but due to their ability to market the product effectively and use trendy language.

Sadly, many of these overnight successes experience a sharp decline when their momentum slows down.

Selendra, on the other hand, follows the footsteps of projects we love and respect, and is here for the long haul. We prioritize testing our project with real business cases. We don't mind being considered small, an underdog, or seemingly unattractive. What matters most to us is genuinely solving real business problems and onboarding users who benefit from our ecosystem, even if it means a smaller user base.

We find it sad to see that people often fall for projects with significant funding, thinking it's a shortcut to get rich like those VCs. They might not realize that a substantial portion of the money raised from the public will eventually go back to those very VCs. All this happens even when the projects lack genuine business value added to the real world.

Our approach is inspired by successful projects like Bitcoin, which achieved remarkable value without relying on investors, VCs, or ICOs. Instead, it was built by a group of devoted individuals, and some believed in and played with it.

Our goal is not to replace or be like Bitcoin. Instead, we draw inspiration from such successful projects and strive to work alongside them, acting as a catalyst for mass adoption in the blockchain and digital economy industry.

Attention:: restake your SEL tokens on new upgrade mainnet

Hello Community and Friends,

Thank you so much for your continued interest in Selendra. The team has been diligently working towards delivering something valuable.

We attempted to accelerate the process with the second testnet, learning from AlephZero. However, we realized that this approach would lead to long-term issues.

As a result, we decided to revert back to the mainnet and focus on enhancing the existing infrastructure, with plans to scale later using methods like #Offchain_Rollup based on the requirements.

Ultimately, we chose to temporarily remove parachain features and introduce support for Wasm and EVM smart contract functionality on the network. This means that the network now accommodates both types of smart contracts on the mainnet.

To ensure a seamless transition and avoid future complications, the team has decided to initiate a hardfork of the chain state and migrate to the new mainnet. As a result, those of you who staked tokens will need to restake them.

Currently, the team is working on rebuilding the explorer, which will provide support for both EVM and Wasm contracts. This explorer will also serve as the Selendra DevTools or SuperDapp, offering a unified platform for Explorer, Staking, deploying EVM and Wasm contracts, and other functionalities in one place.

Concurrently, WebContract will assist developers in connecting their applications to Selendra. We aim to release this feature by the end of 2023.

Congratulations to #Toncoin for reaching a remarkable 106,000+ TPS on their performance test.

Blockchain technology has evolved significantly since Bitcoin's initial release.

Selendra is motivated to put in the effort and play a role in the progress of the industry as a whole.

Selendra doesn't aim to be the fastest network but strives to contribute to enterprise and developer onboarding, fostering interoperability with other networks, and supporting both Wasm and EVM contracts.

Since 2018, we began on a journey to create a digital school platform, now known as Weteka.

Recently, Weteka collaborated with MoEYS to launch SalaDigital. Currently, we have uploaded 600+ book titles, hundreds of schools created by users, and have 2,600+ users, including both students and teachers. While the data is still somewhat messy, we are actively working to organize it as we progress.

Due to the nature of this partnership, we anticipate a significant influx of users in the upcoming school year of 2024, primarily high school and junior high school students. In response, the Weteka Team is developing a Digital ID that combines OAuth2-based Single Sign-On (SSO) with Selendra-based Web3 authentication. This will enable accounts created on Weteka to serve as wallets, holding digital assets across both web2 and web3.

We are excited about the possibility of introducing these users to the web3 environment from their early day, without the need to understand the intricacies of Blockchain, similar to how people use social media today without necessarily comprehending the workings of the Internet.

Of course, we still hope that some users will delve deeper to comprehend what lies behind the scenes. When they do, we aim to have resources readily available for them to educate themselves. Our aspiration is for some of them to become researchers, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and explorers—a continuation of KOOMPI's core mission from its inception to the future.

Deploy Solidity Smart Contract on Selendra EVM

Now you can deploy a Solidity Smart Contract onto the Selendra EVM at remix.selendra.org. You will be guided through setting up a Metamask wallet and adding the Selendra Network to it. This Solidity contract could be any contract that runs on Ethereum, would run on Selendra.

Prerequisites:

You will need SEL tokens to pay for gas fees, which must be paid in SEL EVM. If you have SEL on portal.selendra.org, you need to convert your EVM address (starting with

0xe02593…7463a

) to a Selendra Wasm address using

Steps:

1. Set up a Metamask wallet and add the Selendra Network to it.
2. Obtain SEL tokens to pay for gas fees.
3. Convert your EVM address to a Selendra Wasm address using

4. Transfer SEL tokens from portal.selendra.org to your newly converted Substrate address.
5. Wait a few seconds for the SEL tokens to appear in your Metamask wallet.
6. Write your contract or generate your contract from the Remix template.
7. Deploy your Solidity Smart Contract onto the Selendra EVM at https://remix.selendra.org.
