Following the election in Hungary where Prime Minister Viktor Orban lost to Peter Magyar, Russia has voiced its desire to continue contacts with the new government following the transition period.
Prime Minister Orban government often sided against Ukraine when it came to votes on EU support for the nation, and was seen as one of the primary state-actor disrupters both within NATO and the EU, as it relates to measures related to Ukraine and Finnish/Swedish ascension into NATO.
Peter Magyar: "The Kremlin has spoken, and Beijing has spoken. I thank them for their respectful acceptance of the decision of the Hungarian electorate, the Hungarian people, and they are also open to pragmatic cooperation, just as Hungary is, because geography is geography."

Following a continuous IDF intelligence monitoring since the largest strike in Lebanon during Operation Roaring Lion - Operation Eternak Darkness, on April 8th, 2026, the IDF now confirms that more than 250 Hezbollah terrorists were eliminated during the strike across Beirut, the Beqaa, and southern Lebanon. These strikes constitute a precise and significant blow to Hezbollah’s command and control infrastructure.
The IDF is now revealing for the first time some of the commanders eliminated in the strike. These commanders were responsible for overseeing Hezbollah’s key operational systems, with particular emphasis on the terrorist organization’s firepower, intelligence, and defensive capabilities:
● Hassan Mustafa Nasser - Commander of Hezbollah’s Logistics Support Headquarters, responsible for smuggling and storing weapons in Lebanon and constituted a central figure in the terrorist organization’s rehabilitation efforts and buildup in southern Lebanon.
● Ali Qassem, Abu Ali Abbas, and Ali Hijazi - Senior commanders in Hezbollah’s intelligence unit. Responsible for gathering the intelligence assessment on the State of Israel, including the development of a target bank for strikes and the collection of intelligence.
● Abu Muhammad Habib - Deputy Commander of Hezbollah’s Missile Unit. Throughout the war, and particularly during Operation Northern Arrows, he was involved in launching missiles toward the State of Israel. Habib recently led force-building efforts within the missile unit.
Alongside these eliminations, the IDF also eliminated operatives responsible for artillery and defensive capabilities across Hezbollah’s various units. The battle damage assessment remains ongoing, and additional Hezbollah terrorists continue to be identified.

Begoña Gómez, the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, has been formally referred for trial by Madrid investigating judge Juan Carlos Peinado following nearly two years of investigation since April 2024, on allegations including influence peddling and private-sector corruption, as well as two additional suspected offenses reported as misappropriation and improper use of a trademark.
Gómez has denied all wrongdoing throughout the proceedings, and the case now enters a more advanced stage in Spain’s criminal process where prosecutors and defense will argue over whether sufficient evidence exists to open a full trial, with potential penalties under Spanish law that could include multi-year prison sentences if convictions are ultimately secured.
Sánchez has publicly dismissed the accusations as politically motivated and expressed confidence in the judicial system.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan:
As far as I can see, there is currently a sincere need on both sides for a ceasefire. Of course, there is always the Israel factor. Israel’s disruptive role here must always be taken into account. At the moment, both the Americans and the Iranians have returned home. I believe the Iranians, in particular, will evaluate the proposal made by the Americans and will give a response.
The effort to expand territory has always been one of Israel’s objectives. It was waiting for an opportunity to implement this, and after October 2023 it saw that such an opportunity had opened up. Essentially, Israel is not pursuing security, but rather more territory. It presents this expansionism under the guise of security needs. As this becomes more exposed, international awareness grows, and the political rhetoric surrounding the issue begins to shift and produce different effects.
Israel’s postponed policies toward Syria carry certain risks. Because of the ongoing war in Iran, Israel may not be taking certain steps right now, but that does not mean it will not do so later. It may simply not be their priority at the moment. That does not mean it will not become a priority later, when the time comes. For now, our Syrian brothers and sisters are engaged in serious diplomatic efforts. However, as I said, Netanyahu and his team’s perspective on this issue is clear. We are aware of it, and we are taking our own measures accordingly.
We see that Greece is pursuing highly risky policies here. There are very interesting aspects in Greece attempting to follow a type of policy that no other country in Europe is pursuing on its own. Neither Greece nor Southern Cyprus needs military cooperation with Israel. Greece is already a member of NATO, and Southern Cyprus has the backing of the EU. What strategic logic could justify seeking this kind of cooperation is something they cannot explain to me either. This is most likely an imposition on the government made under external pressure.
After Iran, Israel cannot live without an enemy. We see that they are in search of developing a new rhetoric and declaring Turkey as the new enemy. We observe this not only in Netanyahu, but also among some figures in the Israeli opposition.

Last week (Monday), the IDF, guided by Southern Command and the ISA, struck a number of armed Hamas terrorists who had approached the Yellow Line and were planning an imminent terror attack against IDF troops operating in central Gaza. The terrorists posed an immediate threat to IDF troops and were eliminated in a precise strike.
In the strike, Yousef Ibrahim Mahmoud Basheti was eliminated, a Hamas terrorist who was part of the cell that fired anti-tank missiles toward structures in which IDF soldiers were operating during the Gaza War, as well as toward a tank securing the troops. As a result of the anti-tank missile attack, 21 IDF soldiers were killed.
Additional terrorists from the Hamas terror organization were eliminated, including a Nukhba terrorist, an operative in Hamas’ military wing officer in the Hamas police, and three additional Hamas terrorists.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the Government Meeting today. Keynotes:
Yesterday, I was in Lebanon, in the security zone, with our forces, with our wonderful reservists and our daring commanders. The first thing is that they are pushing the enemy away from the border. We are not talking about 5 points; we are talking about a solid, deeper security zone that both prevents the danger of invasion and distances the anti-tank missile threat.
I spoke yesterday with Vice President JD Vance. He called me from his plane on the way back from Islamabad. He briefed me in detail, as members of this administration do daily, on the progress of the negotiations; in this case, the collapse of the negotiations. The collapse came from the American side, which could not tolerate Iran's blatant violation of the agreement to enter into negotiations.
Since Iran violated the rules, President Trump decided to impose a naval blockade on them. We, of course, support this firm stance, and we are in constant coordination with the US.
I met yesterday with Holocaust survivors, those who will light the torches today. I was moved to hear their stories. It is supreme heroism and survival against all odds. It needs to be heard today. But I told them there is one huge difference: during the Holocaust, we were, as the poet Uri Zvi Greenberg said, 'like a hunted animal.' We couldn't do anything. We were hunted, we were slaughtered; only individuals survived. Today, the tables have turned: We are the ones hunting our oppressors. They who came to destroy us are currently fighting for their survival. The power of the State of Israel, only 80 years after the Holocaust, is visible to the entire world. Even if the world has forgotten the Holocaust, we have not forgotten. We know that we must stand up to evil in time and with strength, and we are doing so, as no country other than the US is doing.
The State of Israel is at the peak of its power.
They come to destroy us and we rise up against them. In every generation, they rise against us; in this generation, we rose against them, and this is a massive change that all citizens of Israel should welcome. This ensures the main thing: Never Again.

On this day 51 years ago, the Lebanese Civil War erupted. It wasn’t just a war… it was a catastrophe in which an entire country collapsed. Blood became cheaper than water, families were torn apart, more than 150,000 people were killed, and around 1 million were displaced inside their own country.
Lebanon - once called the “Switzerland of the East”, became a battlefield. A state already fragile and divided began to fracture under pressure: sectarian fault lines, political paralysis, and the growing presence of the heavily armed terrorists of Yasser Arafat. After Arafat tried to take over Jordan and kill the king, the terrorist Palestine Liberation Organization was expelled from Jordan (1970–1971).
Arafat, as the PLO’s leader, relocated with his terrorists, command structure, and political apparatus to Lebanon, establishing a powerful military and political presence, particularly in the south, launching attacks across the border into Israel, and drawing repeated retaliation that Lebanon itself could not contain. Then came the spiral. Militias multiplied. Alliances shifted overnight. Neighborhoods turned into front lines. Massacres, kidnappings, sieges, and car bombs became part of daily life.
The state didn’t just weaken - it disappeared in places.
What happened in Lebanon is not just history. It's history that repeated itself years later with the Hezbollah terrorist organization - another foreign entity, Iranian this time, that placed its grip over the country.
Maybe this time, it won’t take another civil war for the lesson to be understood. Maybe Lebanon can still choose a different path - one where the state reclaims its authority, where decisions are made in Beirut and not dictated by armed factions or foreign powers.
The hope is simple, even if the reality is not: that Lebanon takes its destiny back into its own hands, rebuilds what was broken, and chooses stability over endless cycles of violence. And from where I stand, as an Israeli, I hope that path also leads to a near future where Lebanon chooses peace with Israel, not confrontation and hostility. We were never the enemy.
And in the end, after everything both sides have endured, the only real victory left is not war - it’s peace.

In Israel we commemorate now Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day
The Holocaust was a descent into organized horror as millions of Jews, along with other targeted groups, were stripped of their names, their dignity, and ultimately their lives under the machinery of Nazi genocide during World War II. Entire communities were erased in ghettos, mass shootings, and extermination camps where death was industrialized and suffering was routine. Survivors carried not only physical scars but the unbearable weight of memory - of loss so vast it defies comprehension. And yet, even in that darkness, something endured: the will to live, to remember, to rebuild.
81 years ago, on April 15, 1945, British troops liberated the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. The surviving 60,000 Jewish prisoners had seen and suffered unbelievable horrors. But they still had hope. 5 days after liberation, the prisoners held a Shabbat service in the camp. It was the first time many of them had taken part in a Jewish service in 6 years. With what little energy they had left, they sang Hatikvah (the Hope) - in what later would become Israel's National Anthem.
Never forget!
Am Israel Chai! - The people of Israel live!

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a speech at the opening ceremony of the State Holocaust Remembrance and Heroism Day at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. Keynotes:
The survivors, the victors of the Holocaust, were privileged to witness the resurrection of Israel and they contributed to it. But these days, they are privileged to witness something else of unparalleled importance.
During the Holocaust, we were a beaten animal that let out a cry of agony - whereas today we have a stronger country than ever, that lets out a roar of power.
Looking back on the Holocaust, the question arises with all its poignancy: 'What if?' What would have happened if we had a state before the catastrophe? What would have happened if the European countries had stopped the monstrous Nazism in time, instead of appeasing it? What would have happened if the Allies had bombed the extermination camps?
But my dears, there is no "if" in history. The terrible disaster happened. The nightmare scenario came true.
That same world that was indifferent to the persecution of the Jews, has come to know that hatred of the Jews - toxic anti-Semitism - undermines the foundations of the existence of the entire human society.
On Holocaust Remembrance Day this year, we will remember that the State of Israel is at the height of its all-time power.
Who would have imagined 80 years ago that our brave air force pilots and American army pilots would defend the Middle East, Israel, and the United States of America, wing to wing?
And one more thing – we are defending Europe. Europe has forgotten so many things since the Holocaust. It can learn many things from us, and especially the most important thing: the sharp distinction between good and evil, which requires going to war for life at the moment of truth.
Europe, which swore after the World War to defend what is good, is today afflicted with a profound moral weakness. Europe is losing control of its identity, its values, and its commitment to safeguard civilization from barbarism.
No other nation could have done what we did: to bring about the great transformation from a Holocaust to a revival – a revival full of achievements that amaze the family of nations. The flourishing State of Israel will continue to serve as a beacon of freedom, progress and prosperity.
Like a nation of lions,
We will continue, with God's help,
to roar the eternal roar:
The people of Israel live!
